Dear Father McCanny
School Support Programme Follow-up Inspection of StPaul’s Primary School, slievemore (203-6227)
Since the last inspection which took place in January2000, the following changes which affect the work of StPaul’s have been implemented:
  • a new principal has been appointed and took up her post in September2000;
  • a new vice-principal has been appointed and also began in September2000.
The Education and Training Inspectorate carried out a follow-up inspection on the 2February2001.
The school has made satisfactory progress and the following are the most important improvements which have taken place since the inspection:
  • the identification of appropriate aims and targets for this school year;
  • the strategies which have been put in place to allow the pupils’ work to be monitored and evaluated;
/
  • the school can show relevant evidence to show improvement in the pupils’ outcomes;
  • the quality of teaching observed was always satisfactory.
The areas which need further improvement are:
  • the school needs to sustain and build upon the improvements which have been made;
  • the school should ensure that planning for learning remains a relevant and useful activity.
The Education and Training Inspectorate will continue to monitor the work of the StPaul’s to ensure that the improvements which are needed are implemented.
Yours sincerely
MARION J MATCHETT (MISS)
Chief Inspector
