SecondarySchoolofMechanical, Constructional ad TransportationStudies in Liberec isanallowanceorganizationestablished by theDistrictof Liberec. Originallyitwasfounded as SecondaryVocationalSchoolofConstructiontheyear 1957, and itbelonged to thecompanycalled“Pozemní stavby Liberec“. Itprovidedtrainingmainly to apprenticesofbuildingproffesions.

Aftertheyear 1990 itintegradedwithseveralschools - Centre ofElectrotechnicTraining, IntegratedSecondarySchoolofTransportation and Construction and SecondarySchoolofTechnicalEngineering. Thementionedorganizationalchangescaused a considerableexpansionofthefieldsof study thattheschooloffersitsstudents. Alsothenumberofstudentsincreased. There are about 800 studentsattheschooltoday.

Theschoolstarted to participate ininternationalprojects in themid 90´s ofthe last century. Thelongestprojectwasthe PHAREprogramme – thereformationofvocationaleducation. Ourschoolwasoneofthenineteenpilotschools in the Czech Republic. Thatprogramme had a significantcontributionfortheschoolboth in thepedagogical and materialfield. Consequentlytheemployeesoftheschoolsubmitteda lot ofsuccessfulapplications to anotherinternational and nationalprogrammes. These wereespeciallythemobility projectsoftheEuropean Union Leonardo da Vinci,later Erasmus+, theOperationalprogrammessof ESF, and thecooperationwiththe Czech-GermanFundoftheFuture. Thepedagogicalstaffhave made use ofthegainedexperience and knowledgeand haveuseditforexampleforcompletionand innovatinsoftheschooleducationalprogrammes.All these factscontribute to thehighlevelofeducation and expandingtheactivitiesoftheschool. A goodexampleistheWeldingSchoolwhichhas passedthe audit oftheEuropeanweldingfederation. Nowitoffersthestudents, and firstofalltheemployeesofcompaniesinLiberec region obtaining aweldingcertificateaccording to theEuropeanstandardsforwelding metals and plastics in a largenumberofmethods.

A part oftheschoolisalso adormitorywiththecapacityof 280 beds and aschoolkitchen.Despitetheabovedescribedsuccessesthe management oftheschoolfollowsrecentchanges anddevelopmentofthefieldsof study allthetime. Thatiswhytheschoolalsokeepsgoodrelations with many firms in Liberec region and withschools and institutionsin Germany, Great Britainn, Poland andSlovakia.
