Being a members organisation, all customers (members) are equal share holders in Iemas and are therefore entitled to an annual bonus (dividend), based on the specific services they made use of through the course of the financial year. A total of R54 million was paid to Iemas members as bonuses during the 2004 financial year. Bonuses are paid at the end of November each year, tax free. A portion of the bonus remains in a reserve fund, serving as a savings account for the member, earning interest on an annual basis.
