Installing Inventory Pro

1.1 Installation for Stand-Alone Inventory Pro 8.1 and 9.1 (for WindowsÔ)

  1. Insert the Inventory Pro CD into your CD-ROM. The picture below will display.
  1. Choose the system edition that you would like to install from the pop up window or, using your Windows Explorer TM, find the file “Setup.exe” in the folder of the edition you need to install and double click it in the folder of the edition you need to install. Below are your options.
  • “Install EZInventory” is the smaller sub-system of Inventory Pro.
  • “Install Inventory Pro” is version 8.1 for Windows TM 98, 95, and NT 4.0 or higher.
  • “Inventory Pro for Office-2000” is 9.1 (2000) for PCs running Windows TM 2000 with Microsoft Access TM 2000 installed as well.
  • Call CISS if you are unsure about which version to install.
Note: Both 9.1 and 8.1 versions are identical in functionality.
  1. The setup application will check for installed parts. If a previous installation is found see section 1.2 of this chapter.
  2. When it is finished, it will recommend installing the files to the C drive in a newly created folder, “cissinvp,” as demonstrated in the picture below. Click “OK” to accept this or change the destination folder to install to. We recommend taking the default, because if you need support, we may need to know where it is installed.

  1. Select “Typical” for the type of installation when prompted as shown below.

  1. This installation will run showing a dialog box as shown below.

  1. A box will display confirming that setup is complete. Click “OK.”

  1. Go to “Start” on your PC and select “Programs.” Look for “Inventory Pro by CISS.”

9.  Click “Inventory Pro” to start the application.

10.  Enter your company name when prompted and click “Next.” The system will connect the tables and when it is finished you will be in Inventory Pro, ready to begin keeping track of your inventory.

1.2 Reinstalling

When following steps 1–3 in section 1.1, you may have previously installed Inventory Pro for demo purposes. When you get to step 3 in section 1.1 and the system detects previously installed components of Inventory Pro, proceed as indicated below.

  1. You will be taken to the “CISS Installation Maintenance” screen as pictured.

  1. There will be three options.
  • “Add/Remove” will allow you to specifically request what file(s) you need to add or remove from your system as shown below. Once you select which components to install, click “Continue.” The system will update and you will see the successful setup message.

  • “Reinstall” will restore all missing files. This will update all the files and display the successful setup message.
  • “Remove all” is to uninstall the system. See section 1.3 for more details.
  1. When setup is completed, follow steps 8–10 in section 1.1.

1.3 Uninstalling Microsoft TM Access Edition of Inventory Pro
