The Pre Advanced Placement Program (Pre-AP) is a collaborative effort between motivated students, dedicated teachers and concerned parents, and committed high schools.

Students qualify for enrollment inPre-AP coursesbased on interest as well as ability since the curriculum requires more advanced and intensive work. Students will often be expected to begin with summer reading and other assignments to complement the normal course work during the year.

After completing Pre-AP classes, students will have the opportunity to enter into Advanced Placement courses and receive college credits for successful scores on the AP Exams or enroll in a Dual Enrollment program with area colleges.

Please read and sign in the appropriate space below, indicating your understanding and agreement with the expectation that pertains to you as aPre-AP student, parent, or teacher in the BirdvilleIndependentSchool District.

Pre-AP Student

  • I will come to class on time and will be prepared for class each day.
  • I will be accountable for individual assignments, test grades, asking for help and peer support.
  • I will commit high expectations in my work and work ethic.
  • I realize that the Pre-AP curriculum work is rigorous and fast paced.
  • I will commit to essential levels of self control and discipline.
  • I will take advantage of tutorials.
  • I understand that upon failure of a six weeks grading period that I, my parents, teacher and administrator will meet to discuss the most beneficial course of action.
  • I will minimize my absences from my Pre-AP courses.

Pre-AP Parent

  • I will encourage my son or daughter to come prepared for class each day
  • I will not agree to allow myson or daughter to drop a Pre-AP course without the advice and consent of the teacher and school counselor.
  • My expectation is that my son or daughter will take advantage of tutorials before and after school.
  • I understand that my son or daughter will be held to a higher standard and will not expect special privileges (late work, etc.)
  • I understand that upon failure of a six weeks grading period that I, my child, the teacher and administrator will meet to discuss the most beneficial course of action.

Pre-AP Teacher

  • As aPre-AP teacher, I will teach my course as a preparatorycourse for Advanced Placement classes following the description developed bythe College Board.
  • I will encourage and assist all students to make good decisions about future Advanced Placement courses.
  • I will offer tutorials and review sessions during the mornings.
  • I understand that upon failure of a six weeks grading period that I, my student, the parents and administrator will meet to discuss the most beneficial course of action.
  • I will minimize my absences from my Pre-AP classes.
