Unit 13: Dance technique

The following forms have been developed to be used alongside the activities that are in the Delivery Guide for Unit 13 – Dance technique. These resources have been developed and presented in this format so that tutors can copy and amend them as necessary to aid learners and complement their own activities.

LO1: Be able to demonstrate the relationship between dance and music

Different genre

To complete this Unit you will need to research different dance genres. By searching on YouTube find two examples of each genre to get a taste of the dance styles you prefer.

Consider:

·  What it is it you like about this style?

·  Is this a realistic style for me to study? Physically? Timescale?

·  Could I achieve a decent standard in the time frame allocated?

·  Do I have or can I get the resources I will need to learn how to dance this style?

Genre/style / Reference to find video clips / Why I would like to study this style
Jazz
Ballet
Lyrical
Urban
Tap
Contemporary
Disco/Latin
Ballroom
Folk
International dance
Musical theatre
My top choices in order of preference are: / 1.
