1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
1.5.1 Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 years experience manufacturing similar equipment.
1.5.2 Installer Qualifications: Minimum 2 years experience installing similar equipment.
1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
1.6.1 Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS
1.7.1 Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.
1.8 WARRANTY
1.8.1 Manufacturer's Warranty: Provide manufacturer's standard warranty. Materials shall be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of five years from the date of purchase. Should a part fail to function in normal use within this period, manufacturer shall furnish a new part at no charge.

2.2.1 Basis-of-Design: Type FR Single Leaf, Fire Rated Floor Access Door as manufactured by The BILCO Company.
2.2.1.1 Factory pre-assembled.

2.2.2 Performance Characteristics:
2.2.2.1 Cover:
2.2.2.1.1 Minimum Live Load: 40 lbs per sq ft (19 kg per sq m).
2.2.2.1.2 Maximum Deflection: 1/150th of span.
2.2.2.1.3 Smooth and easy controlled operation through entire opening and closing arc.
2.2.2.1.4 Operation not to be affected by temperature.
2.2.2.2 Door and frame assembly:
2.2.2.2.1 Tested in accordance with ASTM E119 and NFPA 251, and UL Listed as having a 2-hour fire rating when exposed to fire from the underside.
2.2.2.2.1.1 In Closed Position: Temperature on unexposed surface of door not to exceed 325 degrees F (162 degrees C) above ambient for 2-hours.
2.2.2.2.2 Performance Certification Test Report: Supplied by manufacturer.

2.2.2.3 Fusible Link, Heat Activated Closing System: Automatic closing and latching of door leaf in event of fire. UL Listed 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
2.2.3 Cover:
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Insert specified flooring material, including type, thickness, and weight. Note: Finish flooring material up to 1/2 in (13 mm) thick can be installed in the 1 in (25 mm) pan. The remaining depth must be filled with concrete to maintain the fire rating of the door assembly. If finish flooring is not desired, the pan must be filled with 1 in (25 mm) of concrete).
2.2.3.1 Fillable Pan: 1 in (25 mm) deep to receive concrete or combination of 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of concrete and of 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of ______.
2.2.4 Frame: Extruded aluminum. Full anchor flange around perimeter.
2.2.5 Lifting Mechanisms: Compression spring operators enclosed in anti-corrosive composite telescopic tubes. The upper, outer tube prevents accumulation of moisture, grit, and debris inside the lower tube assembly. The lower tube interlocks with a flanged support shoe fastened to a formed 1/4 in (6 mm) gusset support plate.
2.2.6 Removable Exterior Turn and Lift Handle: Spring loaded ball detent type. Latch release protected by a flush, gasketed, removable screw plug.

2.2.7 Automatic Closing System: Self-contained, pneumatic, and fusible link activated. Automatically closes and latches door in the event of fire when heat parts the UL Listed 165 degrees F (74 degrees C) fusible link.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** When door is specified without automatic closing system, a mechanical aluminum hold-open arm is provided).
2.2.8 Hold-Open System: Pneumatic hold-open system automatically holding door in the open position (85 degrees). Release Button: Resets itself when the cover is closed.
2.2.9 Hardware:
2.2.9.1 Continuous Hinge: Heavy duty, type 316 stainless steel. Only accessible when cover is open.
2.2.9.2 Fixed Handle Snap Lock: type 316 stainless steel. Mounted on underside of cover. Cable release handle provided to open cover from underside.
2.2.9.3 Fasteners: 316 stainless steel.
