HONORS HOMEWORK/ INDEPENDENT READING ASSIGNMENT PART II INSTRUCTIONS*

COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING ASSIGNMENT USING THE BOOKS THAT YOU ARE READING FOR WEEKLY HW:

1) Complete ONE Literature Web per book (check link on Hand-outs page for example & print-out).

2) Keep a list of vocabulary words & their definitions (from the book) that are new/ unfamiliar to you. Make a Vocabulary Web for at least two of the words. (check link on Hand-outs page for example & print-out).

3) After approximately every 30 pages you read (or every chapter), stop and write a paragraph “diary” and/or ½ page, bulleted “Talking to the Text” entry that shares your reactions to what you are reading and your thoughts about the issues raised in the book. BE SURE TO LABEL EACH ENTRY WITH THE PAGE NUMBERS BEING DISCUSSED.

4) When you have completed the book, write a synopsis of no more than 100 words that would tell a reader interested in the book the main points they might wish to consider when deciding whether to read it.

SUBMIT YOUR PACKET OF WORK NO LATER THAN THE DATE STATED ON YOUR HW INSTRUCTION SHEET!
