The Royal Story 1

Genesis to 2 Samuel

A. INTRODUCTION: THE BIBLE, GOD’S WORD

Old Testament

2 Timothy 3:16-17

2 Peter 1:21

Our Old Testament is what Jesus had as his Bible. And he endorses it as God’s Word e.g. Matthew 19:4-5 Jesus quotes the words of the author of Genesis 2:24 and declared that God said it. Words that are not quotes of God are still said to be God’s words.

Acts 1:16 quotes Psalms 69 and 109 says that the Holy Spirit spoke through David.

New Testament

John 14:26, 16:13 Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit will remind the disciples of what he has said and will guide them into all truth.

2 Peter 3:16 Peter calls Paul’s writings Scripture

1 Timothy 5:18 quotes Luke 10:7 and calls it Scripture.

1 Corinthians 14:37 Paul says he is writing a command of the Lord
