Work Experience Details

Qubix Technologies, Sydney Hyperion Consultant Sep’13 - Till Date

1.  Telco Client (Sep’13 to Till Date): I was part of a BI project, which was initiated in direction to i. upgrade the existing Windows servers to Exalytics box ii. Upgrade from EPM 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.3 iii. Create additional Finance and Summary applications with more efficient data distributions.. Tools: Exalytics, EPM 11.1.2.3, ODI 11, Oracle 11g, Teradata 12.

Roles Performed:

a. Interacting with end clients to gather specific requirements to the module I developed. Meeting the client standards and guidelines, while delivering the deliverables.

b. Customization of smartview installations. To remove Oracle known bugs, customize SV options for user and add connections by default after installations.

c. Planning migration from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.3. Creating customized migration strategy, due to challenges in client environment. Migrating artifacts including Forms, Business Rules (including sequences, rules, macros), Database objects, data and security. Individual contributor for the task and completed in 2 weeks.

d. Created new Finance planning applications to allow reporting & forecasting on finance lines. ODI was used to extract data/metadata from EBS and GL (based of Teradata). The ODI objects were developed under ODI framework defined for the client. It has interfaces for finance admin group to be able to perform adjustments to metadata, through file loads. I have performed necessary performance tuning during development, since the volume of the application was huge (100k members and 15G data). Created Business Rules for agg and data copy.

e. Proof of concept for using ASO as a plan type. ASO plan type was a new feature with 11.1.2.3. But the pros/cons were unknown for the technology. POC was done on the client environment and was determined that ASO can be used as an aggregation cube and perform forecasting on the application. The cons were that BR and calc cannot be executed on Planning ASO apps. BR's couldn't be associated for an ASO plan type, so customized BR's were used including Shell and Maxl scripting to perform the needful. The approach was then accepted for future applications.

f. Proof of concept for high dimensionality for BSO planning applications. There were 13 dimensions chosen for the POC which had members upto 20k. Data sizes were loaded upto 14 GB. The applications were tuned for Exalytics env and performance optimizations performed.

g. Creating Test sheets, reports and harnesses related to Smartview implementations, Planning migrations and new planning applications. Working with the Testing team to cover all areas of testing. Managing SQL database requests and advising the DBA's to process on request. Deciding the DB strategy to meet the needs of EPM components. Performing Dev, SIT & UAT migrations and test harnesses.
