Job Title:Mentor& Befriending Assistant
Department:Croydon Imagine
Accountable To:Mentor & BefriendingCo-ordinator
- JOB SUMMARY
To support the development of the mentoring & befriending service by providing assistance to the Co-ordinator. This will involve dealing with initial referrals, on-going client contacts and dealing with queries. The role will also include supporting volunteers in order for the volunteers to carry out their roles in an effective and appropriate manner. A large part of the role is providing admin support.
- LOCATION
The post holder will be based in the London Borough of Croydon.
- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This post has no direct staff supervisory responsibilities but there may be supervisory responsibility for volunteers as directed by the Mentor Co-ordinator. There is a duty upon all employees to be aware of appropriate service standards and to report any breach of standards to someone in authority.
- MAIN DUTIES
Under the guidance of the Mentor Co-ordinator as required
- Organising initial meetings
- Dealing with enquiries across the services
- Arranging volunteer training sessions
- Promoting the service to organisations
- Assist with volunteer information and supervision sessions
- Recruitment and support of volunteers
Responsibilities to clients
- To ensure that a high quality and consistent level of service delivery are maintained.
- To arrange befriending & mentoring meetings and encourage attendance by clients
- To confirm with the clients dates and times of meetings
- Encourage social involvement in the community
- Identify barriers to client meetings/socialising
Responsibilities to Volunteers
- General admin and processing of volunteer applications
- Chasing up of references and any outstanding paper work
- Deal with enquiries from potential volunteers
- Carry out initial meetings with potential volunteers
- Help with organising training sessions
Responsibility to the Team/Organisation
- To ensure that all service based administrative duties are undertaken as directed by the Co-ordinator and that all required returns are made on time.
- Enter progress and outcome information onto the database
- To help promote the services to service users & referral agencies, ensuring working protocols are in place regarding assessments/referrals/reviewing service users.
- To build partnerships with community agencies and support people’s progression
- Produce accurate and well presented documents. Type letters, reports and emails in House Style to high levels of accuracy and within agreed turnaround times.
- Maintain the filing system in good order. Ensure that all papers are filed in a secure, accurate and timely way in order that documents can easily be located and retrieved.
- Type agendas and reports in accordance with the agreed format. Arrange for the photocopying and despatch of reports within the agreed timescales. Ensure that rooms are booked and refreshments supplied for the meetings.
