Audience: Health Professions Educators who wish to transform their education programs.
Rapid changes in healthcare have created unprecedented need for deep revision in educational programs. National drivers of quality and safety light the way for educational programs to lay foundations to bridge the quality chasm. The 2009 Educators EBP Workshop® emphasizes major improvement programs that should influence preparation of students for today’s healthcare systems.
Workshop Description: In its 5th year, this acclaimed workshop for educators examines teaching-learning strategies, competencies, and interdisciplinary efforts in evidence-based quality and patient safety education. The workshop offers opportunities to explore EBP teaching and learning strategies and resources and discuss trends and issues related to preparation of the workforceto be a vital part of healthcare improvement.
National leaders will discusspowerful programs that are changing clinical care and rapidly becoming national standards. Discussions will include implications of these new trends for education,essential EBP competencies and teaching strategies, revision of basic and graduate curricula and courses, and new online educational resources.
Participants will emerge with
revitalized professional practice knowledge necessary to instruct learners for
full participation in contemporary healthcare.
OBJECTIVES
Health Professions Educators who wish to revitalize their education programs will have opportunities to:
- Explore major healthcare trends and attendant impact on preparation of today’s healthcare workforce for evidence-based quality and safety.
- Describe advances in integrating evidence-based quality and safety into educational programs.
