Make a Slideshow or a CD using IrfanView using Nero Burner Software

(GEN 8/24/06)

In this session I will show you how to create a Slideshow or a Video Image CD with Irfanview. Make sure that all of the images you want to use are in the same folder. A lead-in image may be created with your photo editing software, just remember to save it in the image folder. With an image open in Irfanview select Slideshow in the File menu. A Dialog Box like the one below will open. Put your image folder, mine here is DCClas04, in the Lookin: pane. Click the Remove All button to clear the Slideshow files: pane. Select the images you want in your slideshow and Add them to the Slideshow files: pane. Put a 1 in the Start image: pane. Make your selection in the Slide advancement and Slideshow options areas. Use the Move up and Move down buttons to place your images in the order you wish to view them. Click the Play button to see a preview then make the adjustments you desire. To create a slideshow to present on a computer click the Save as EXE/SCR file button. Select your choices in the dialog box and click Create. Now do a +E to open Windows Explorer, locate your folder, find the EXE file you created and double click on it to view your slideshow. Now how hard was that? I’ve told you a thousand times; I don’t want to hear that!!!

If you have Nero CD Burning software all you have to do is click the Burn to CD button and IrfanView will take care of it as shown on the next page.

Make a Slideshow or a CD using IrfanView using Nero Burner Software – Page 2

After Clicking the Burn button the dialog box at the left will open. Here you may enter a CD name, you can’t use spaces, and other options. Now click Write CD. In a few moments, if you’ve put a blank CD in your burner, the dialog box below will open over the Slideshow Dialog Box. In the Protocol:pane, shown below, the burning steps will be entered as the job progresses and the bar will proceed across the bottom of the Dialog Box.

If you do not use Nero it becomes much harder to burn CD’s however I did this before switching to Nero. I’ll attempt to show you how to do this on the next handout. I really like to use IrfanView to burn CD’s for two reasons. First of all it’s free and second it keeps the images in JPG format in a folder which makes it is easy for the CD owner to edit or make prints of the images. Some of the other software uses a proprietary formats.

To see what IrfanView has to say about burning CDs go to the Index in Help and type in Slideshow_from_CD. That’s where I got my information to start burning autorun CDs.
