4th and 5th Grade Advanced Chorus

Dear Parents/Guardians

Forest Brook’s 4th and 5th Grade Chorus will be starting soon! All rehearsals will take place before school in the vocal music room and will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. Students will be permitted to enter the building at 7:25 a.m. . Please keep in mind that the music program is on a 6 day rotation cycle.

**PLEASE READ BELOW**

***All 4th and 5th grade chorus members will have chorus on 2 mornings. ALL students must come to chorus on Day 5 mornings. Students will also have chorus on either Day 2 mornings or Day 4 mornings as well. In order for me to place your child into the Day 2 or Day 4 morning, I will need to know if your child is participating in any other early morning music programs so there is no conflict in scheduling rehearsals. ****

Once I have this information, I will email you the days your child has been assigned to as well at the start up dates.

ADVANCED CHORUS CONCERT INFORMATION:

The Spring Concert will be held on Thursday, May 18th, 2017 in the High School auditorium.

CONCERT ATTIRE:

GIRLS…SOLID BLACK short-sleeved top: black knee-length skirt or black dressy knee-length gaucho pants (that look like a skirt); black shoes (NO flip flops, sneakers)

BOYS…..BLACK slacks; collared WHITE short-sleeved shirt; dark tie; and black shoes (no sneakers)

REHEARSAL ATTENDANCE POLICY:

The children will be permitted four absences in Chorus during the year. More than four absences may prevent a student from participating in the concert. If your child has extra help in the morning, they must provide a note to leave rehearsal early. If your child is absent from school due to illness it will not be regarded as an absence if a note is provided. Please contact me regarding any extenuating circumstances.

EARLY MORNING BUS SCHEDULE:

Attachedyou will find the early morning bus schedule. Please call transportation if you have any questions regarding the schedule.

Chorus provides your child with additional musical awareness, ear training, and tonal development. Singing is also a fun way to begin the day! Commitment and self-discipline are required from each member of the chorus. Should your child be disruptive, you will be contacted and made aware of any problems. DAY 2:DAY 3:DAY 5:

SOPRANOS ONLYALTOS ONLYFULL CHORUS FOR ALTOS AND SOPRANOS

Begins: Monday 9/24Begins: Thurs, 9/27Begins: Monday, 10/1

Orchestra students who would like to be chorus will sing with the Sopranos on DAY 2 mornings and will begin chorus Monday, September 24th.

Band students who would like to be in chorus will sing with the Altos on DAY 3 mornings and will begin chorus on Thursday, September 27th.

Mrs. Koehler will assign students who are in CHORUS ONLY to either the Day 2Soprano section or the Day 3Alto section before our first rehearsal. Please check my website prior to the first day of chorus for the list of Sopranos and Altos. You can find my page through the website and type in “Koehler” in the search box in the right hand corner.

FULL CHORUS begins on Monday, October 1stand will continue on Day 5. These rehearsals will combine both the altos and sopranos.

The Spring Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 in the High School auditorium.
