Parental Involvement Policy

J.Z. Leyendecker Elementary School is a Title 1 school wide campus. The school will ensure that parents have an opportunity to be involved in the design, and implementation of the Title 1 School Wide Projects. The school will adhere to the local policy for regular, special, remedial, and compensatory program instruction.

The following activities will assure parents in the Title 1 School Wide Project that they will take an active role in all our school functions.

1.The school will establish parent meetings and discuss school status, campus reports on the Assessment and Accountability Academic Performance, proficiency levels to be met and the overall Title 1 School Wide Program.

2.The school will implement an open door policy to discuss parent concerns.

3.The school will inform parents of specific instructional objectives of theState of TexasAssessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

4. The school will provide conferences between parents, teachers, and principal to discuss student achievement.

5.The school will host two open houses to discuss student achievement.

6.The school will hold monthly sessions to provide parents with information and suggestions to enhance student achievement.

7.The school will provide parents with a student-teacher-parent compact.

8.The school will involve parents in program planning, development, and operation of the school through SBDM, LPAC, PTA, SCAN.

9.The school will provide monthly literature in both English and Spanish for parents to motivate and enhance instruction.

10.The school will inform parents about the Title 1 programs and allow timely responses to suggestions for parents of students with limited English proficiency, special needs and migrant students.

11.The school will keep parents informed about school activities and schedules through: parent meetings, newsletters, school calendars, marquis and the website: .

12.The school will provide parents with information about different community programs available.

13.The school will provide parents with a student code of conduct and student handbook at the beginning of the year.
