9th GRADE EXPLORATORY BUSINESS

Grading Policy

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The goal of this course is to help students acquire a basic understanding of our economic system and the role of business in that economic system. The course is taught in a topical manner where students apply both theory and practice, toward the creation of a business plan for a concept of their choice. Students will utilize the internet for research purposes to complete and present projects throughout the year. Programs used by students to complete assignments and projects are Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

FACTORS USED TO DETERMINE GRADE:

Projects and assessments will be given a point value. The point value will vary depending on the difficulty of the assignment or the amount of material being covered. These point values will be totaled at the end of each quarter and divided by the total number of possible points for the quarter. This quarter percentage will be assigned a letter grade according to the school district grading policy (see below). Students are encouraged to keep a tally sheet of individual grades.

FINAL GRADE:

Each marking period accounts for 21% of the final grade and the final exam accounts for the remaining 16% of the final grade. This final percentage is then assigned a letter grade according to the school district grading policy.
