Minutes
1. Call to Order - 6:46 pm
2. Executive Report - met last week to go over budget, spoke about what positions need to be filled for the year
3. Treasurer’s Report - Leslie - no report - wait for budget approval
4. Trustee’s Report - Julie Planadin - group of students that went to Tanzania this summer to work on orphanage - presentation from them
- Ashley Aoki - presented on grade 5 leadership conference - Oct 25 - Penticton Trade & Convention Centre
- parent group re French - early immersion
- financial statements - everything is in order
- school calendars for next 3 years available on school board website - looking for parent input
- response from RCMP re school liason officers - no funding right now - working on ways RCMP can have some presence in some schools
- strategic plan - external process review in the district - almost complete, media training for trustees
- summer school 2017 - it was excellent
- WE Day - October 18, 2017 - Vancouver
- needles on school grounds - safe removal and potential changes the school board can make and the cities can do
5. Approval of Budget - Leslie went over the budget for the 2017 - 2018 year
- motion to pass the budget as presented - Tina - first, Jenny - seconded - everyone agreed
6. Principal’s Report - the excavation has started on the new portable.
- new staff - Lisa Raminsh - fine arts, Emily Spencer - Fridays support services, Laura Caskey - learning assistance, Chris Irvine - Grade 2, Kristina Persson - Grade 4/5, Sharon Trithall - Grade 5 partner with Kathleen Robertson
- appreciate the support of the PAC and the community
- adopt a school - Coles - Giants Head was selected - bake sale at the mall in Penticton last Saturday
- Screen Time & Parenting Workshop

7. Volunteer Opportunities
Angela went over all the volunteer opportunities for the year.
8. Movie Night - October 13, 2017 - Smurfs The Lost Village
- we need volunteers ASAP please!!!
9. Gardens - Garden Committee
10. Photo Day - October 11, 2017 - parent volunteer? to help make the kids more comfortable
