Job Description
A Specialty Instructor is responsible for providing a fun and safe learning environment with participants in a group (lecture and/or workout) setting. A successful instructor is committed to fostering the active and healthy lifestyles of the university and Flagstaff community, is comfortable working in a dynamic environment, is able to effectively lead others through unique Instructional Programs.
Role and Responsibilities
·  Develop and implement Instructional Programs (i.e. workshops) that are safe, effective, and appropriate for individuals interested in content covered and/or continuing education such as: Group Fitness Instruction, One-on-One Personal Training, Small Group Training, Personal Fitness Assessments, Student/Fitness Staff Development, Wellness, Specialized Population Groups
·  Instructor will provide Campus Recreation Services with the following:
o  Workshop title(s) and description(s)
o  Workshop objectives or learning outcomes
o  Workshop preferred date(s) and time(s)
o  Workshop preferred location and equipment use
o  Registration information: costs, participant minimums, deadlines
·  Instructor will market workshop outside of the NAU community
·  Instructor will be committed to the highest standard of appropriate and ethical behavior.
Minimum Qualifications:
·  Primary Group Exercise Certification and/or Personal Trainer certification and/or specialized certification(s)
·  Prior experience leading specialty workshops
·  Basic Adult CPR/AED certification
Requirements
Must be willing to work some early mornings, late nights, and weekends
Additional: Position is Safety/Security Sensitive. The Campus Recreation Services department requires fingerprinting and a background check on all employees.
