HRFC SUNDAY MORNING CAR PARKING

A number of new light plastic road signs are now available for use on Sunday mornings. These are to be used in conjunction with some of the existing metal road signs as directed below.

THE SAFETY OF EVERYBODY INVOLVED IS PARAMOUNT. REDBOURN LANE IS A DANGEROUS ROAD

DO NOT TAKE RISKS, BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES.

Could the parking co-ordinator of the duty team for a particular week, establish from the web site or by communication whether the field carpark is likely to be required. If not then follow the guidelines regarding the Main Carpark. However, if this is likely to overflow then prompt action will be needed to open the Field Carpark. Should the conditions be particularly wet resulting in the Field being ‘boggy’ then try to ensure only 4x4’s use it. Hopefully, a general request will be sent out to this effect plus the need to advise the opposition.

Main Car Park.

Marker posts and sockets have been sunk into the verge each side of the main gate. White markers in respect of the 50 and 100 metres signs and blue markers for the entrance signs. The signs to fit into these sockets are located in the cupboard on the right hand side of the Clubhouse front door. (If locked the combination is 123). Also located there are a number of white posts which are to be planted along the verge infront of the Club to prevent parking on the verge. Do not permit this to happen.

Secured by bungees to the fence by the main gate are 2 metal signs, a ‘Car Park Full’ sign and a ‘Drop Off Point’ sign. There are also a number of cones located here.

Field Car Park.

If this is to be used marker posts and sockets are likewise positioned 50 and 100 metres each side of this gateway plus the blue entrance signs. There are also 2 ‘Mud on Road’ signs which share the entrance sign sockets. These marker posts are coloured blue and red. The respective signs are located just inside the carpark together with 2 metal signs, one for each side of the road, directing vehicles to ‘Turn Left’. One to be positioned by the gate for people to see as they leave and one, facing the gate, on the opposite side of the road. The mud on road signs must be used if there is any risk of mud being carried out on to the road.

General Car Parking Strategy

The key to the field gate is behind the bar.

Ideally 6 to 8 volunteers are needed from 08.30 until 10.30 on normal weeks but 10 will be needed when both carparks are in use.

1) Cone off the section opposite the front door, by the fence, and reserve for referees and officials.

2) Position the ‘Ambulance Access’ sign at the access point by the Containers. Strictly park cars to ensure this access is not compromised- do not rely on common sense and reinforce with cones to prevent late-comers blocking this access.

3)Position 2 people at the main gate directing cars past the squash club, initially, with a further 2 people parking first at the top of the training pitch, then working back towards the clubhouse ensuring there is a clear circuit and cars are not blocked in. However, the U9’s & U10’s coaches, using Wilkinson’s field are allowed to park at that end of the main carpark.

4)On days when there are visiting junior teams, who will arrive later, leave 20 spaces in the main carpark for them. Also ensure access/exit is available for those parked at the back of the main car park using cones along the side of the building.

5) When the Field is being used keep traffic moving on the Redbourn Lane. If traffic backs-up wave them on to the field carpark to prevent non-rugby vehicles overtaking. Do not allow cars to halt in the entrance, if parents are dropping off players make them drive into the carpark to do so.

6) Position 4 people in the field, park from the furthest point first. There is room for and a need to ensure 4 rows of cars.

7)After 12.30 retrieve and store the signs and white posts back to their respective storage locations, but leave the ‘Mud on Road’ signs out! It is the duty teams responsibility to collect and store the signs, pins and cones.
