Drama Club: Delsea Middle School Drama Club primarilymeets during the last week of September until our winter production, which usually takes place the first weekend in December. We meetMonday-Thursday until 4:30pm. As the date of our production gets closer, practices extend to5:30pm. We also have one Saturday dress-rehearsal that students will need to attend. Delsea Middle School Drama Club is designed to provide an opportunity for students to meet, to socialize with each other after school and to make new friends in a positive and supportive setting. Each year we choose a different production that allows the students to showcase their special gifts and theatrical talents.

English Clubis designed to provide an opportunity for students with a love for Language Arts to meet and discuss ways to use their love for reading and writing to have a positive impact on Delsea Middle School, the local community, and possibly people all over the world. It will also allow students to make new friends in a positive and supportive setting. There will be plenty of activities planned to help the students improve their writing, while also allowing them to participate in community service events, essay writing contests, and other fun and engaging ventures.

Environmental Club: Meets twice a month on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. We plant flowers, mulch, clean the beds, and generally make the school look nice. We do a road clean-up in the fall. At the end of the year we go on a fieldtrip to Longwood Gardens.

Fitness Club: Have a passion for Nutrition and Fitness? Join Fitness Club, this is a great opportunity for students to get physically active, set and achieve individual goals and learn the importance of taking care of your body.

Students will improve the following:

-Cardiovascular Endurance

-Muscular Strength

-Flexibility

-Muscular Endurance

-Functional Movements

-Knowledge of Nutrition

-Knowledge of Fitness

Fitness Club will meet one time per week. Students will be asked to complete body weight exercises that will push them past what they believe they can do. CrossFit concepts will be infused in the workouts.

Foreign Language Club:

Le Cercle de Français

The Foreign Language Club is an active organization that is open to all interested students who are part of Delsea Middle School. Our members include seventh and eighth grade students who are interested in the French and Spanish language and culture and for learning. In addition, the Foreign Language Club is not only limited to students in Foreign Language Classes.

The main functions of the Foreign Language Club are:

  1. To promote French and Spanish language and culture
  2. To provide the opportunity for members to practice their

Spanish and French skills and,

c. To share their knowledge of Spanish and French cultures in

an informal environment.

Goals of the Foreign Language Club:

  • To provide the opportunity for members to speak French

or Spanish

  • To increase their knowledge and awareness of

Spanish/French-Speaking world

  • To enhance cross-culture communication
  • To help students make international friends
  • To increase participant’s knowledge of other cultures

The Advisor of the Foreign Language Club will hold meetings accordingly. The Club meets twice a month (the Second and Fourth Tuesday). Through a variety of activities, the Advisor will instil and promote knowledge of and a respect for other cultures. In addition, the Foreign Language Club will be responsible for decoration of one display case in the building with content related material during Showcase Night.

Club meetings will start at 3:30 pm and end at 3:50pm. Buses will be available at 4:00pm for students to be picked up. Bus passes will be issued to students who need a bus pass.

No dues are charged and membership is free for all Seventh and Eighth Grade students.

History Club:History Club is for students who have an interest in history of any or all kinds, and includes activities to allow students to further develop their individual interests in history and give them a greater sense of the effect that history has on the world around them.

Math Club: Meets twice a month on the second and fourth Thursday of the month. The purpose of the math club is to promote, understand and the enjoyment of math beyond what a normal class room can do. The math club will also plan and promote Pi day activities school wide on 3/14.

Media Center Aides Club:Students meet after school 1-2 times per month throughout the year to help out with decorating, processing and shelving books, creating displays, and promoting literacy in the media center.

Storytellers Club: This is an excellent club for students who enjoy working with children, promoting literacy and serving the community. Students will meet at Franklin Township Library 1-2 per year in the evening while engaging with children in the community through reading and craft activities. Students also participate in after-school meetings throughout the year to prepare and practice for a Read Across America celebration presentation at a local elementary school.

Student Ambassador:Becoming a Student Ambassador is a great opportunity to serve as a student leader at Delsea Middle School. Student Ambassadors will gain experience in problem solving, communication, and leadership skills. Students will be dedicated to the positive promotion of their middle school while meeting new people and developing connections with Delsea Middle School administrators, teachers and students. Student Ambassadors assist in activities which the community, parents, grandparents, new students, come to visit Delsea Middle School throughout the school year.

Students apply in spring of 7th grade year, and will be selected to serve their 8th grade year.

Student Government:Student Government is a club that allows elected student representatives a voice in school affairs and plans and coordinates several events throughout the year, including Spirit Weeks and the JDRF fundraiser. Elections for Student Government Homeroom Representatives will take place early in the school year.

Yearbook Club: Starts in October, have about 4-5 meetings per year and the students assist in helping to plan the yearbook, tallying votes, collecting orders, tagging pictures, and assisting with sales during parent conferences.
