Parking Initiatives
LDC producing a report on parking which DT will distribute when received, but told that use of parking has increased since charges increased in August. RL advised that the system used to count is manual. Report still not received. DT to chase AP2017/AC/1/2 DT
Still no further progress from LDC on parking trial. DT said that he had met with Nick Wilcox from a company called Giosprite based here in Lichfield who is looking to develop a showcase “Smart City” here in Lichfield which will include things such as sensor driven parking schemes along with dynamic signage of parking availability. This is of interest to the group and could bring substantial benefits with no capital outlay and could be done on a proof of concept basis. David to work with Local Chamber of Commerce and LDC to afford some introductions and to see how this progresses. AP2017/AC/1/3.
Signage
DT has investigated and Brown road signage costs in at £8-20k per sign and is not available to indicate a retail presence.
Whilst the involvement of the City Centre Development Partnership is welcome and could provide collaborative advantages, progress does seem rather slow.DT has been speaking with a company called Streetwise Orientation & Navigation Systems Limited who can provide an audit of existing signage with commentary as to suitability or, alternatively, a full scoping report where we conduct an in-depth survey of current provision and then produce a no-obligation comprehensive report of recommendations, together with budgets. The group agreed that this would be welcome and would support the work being done with the CCDP. AP2017/AC/1/4 DT to pursue
Street Furniture
There is no map of street furniture available and benches are owned by both City Council and District Councils. In light of the level of progress noted above it was agreed that an audit of current street furniture would be useful and could provide a useful start point for the BID and CCDP. Dave Crump offered to ask his team if they would be prepared to undertake an audit.AP2017/AC/1/5 DC
The audit will review the existence of finger posts, benches, litter bins, cycle racks, street lighting, flower troughs, hanging baskets.
Dc asked DT to send an electronic version of the map of the BID area to him. AP2017/AC/1/6 DT
