Atlanta-Area Schools Receive $20,000 Grant for Math Improvement
Fulton County Public Schools awarded grant from ORIGO Education to provide teacher training and new math resources
ST. CHARLES, Mo. and ATLANTA (June 6, 2016) –ORIGO Education, the creator of the world-class mathematics curriculumStepping Stones, announces it has provided more than $20,000 in grants toFulton County Public Schools.Awarded as an Innovation Improvement Grant, the funding will be used togive teachers opportunities to improve their elementary mathematics instruction, as well as provide classroom resources for students.The award supports the district’s missiontobe a model for improving mathematics teaching in public schools.
“This grant gives our teachers the opportunity to advance their teaching capabilities and instructional practices, while simultaneously ensuring that our students develop a deep, meaningful understanding of mathematics,” said Mari Early, principal at College Park Elementary School. “We believe that these resources will help our teachers to engage learners and provide opportunities for enriching students’ knowledge.”
The Innovation Improvement Grant will be used to provide Professional Learning Sessions and classroom resources for College Park Elementary School, a Title I schoolwhich receives federal funding to ensure all children have the resources to meet rigorous state standards.
“Fulton County is pleased to accept these additional resources in support of our vision and our important work at College Park Elementary,”said Jeff Rose, superintendent of Fulton County Public Schools. “We look forward to using the funding to continue our focused approach to Professional Learning and to develop strategies that best meet the needs of all our students.”
Fulton County Public Schools is one of three U.S. school districts to receive an Innovation Improvement Grant from ORIGO Education. Grant recipients demonstrated the greatest need, had a strategic plan for improvement, and a serious commitment toimplementing new resources to fidelity. Applicants were judged on thepotential to increaseeducational outcomes along with the vision to reach their goals.
