SELECTION OF TRAINEE NAVIGATING OFFICER CADETS (TNOCs) AUGUST 2012.
The Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai is scheduled to conduct the entrance examination for admission to the DNS course leading to B.Sc (Nautical Science) programme on 17th June 2012 at selected centers all over India. The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI), proposes to select candidates through counseling for filling up 120 TNOC seats for pre sea training course at Maritime Training Institute, Mumbai for the August 2012 batch from amongst the candidates qualified in the IMU- DNSentrance examination and eligible as per the IMU admission rules.
The prospects of DNS course leading to B.Sc (Nautical Science) and DNS application form shall be available from the IndianMaritimeUniversity website Original IMU application form completely filled in must be sent directly to IMU by the applicants. Please do not send original IMU application form to SCI as the same will not be entertained.
Tentative dates which candidates must confirm from IMU advertisement/website/IMU Offices are as under:
LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATION BY IMU : 31.05.2012
DATE OF ENTRACE EXAMINATION: 17.06.2012
COUNSELLING DATE AT IMU CENTRES: 16th to 20th JULY 2012 or HOSTED ON IMU
WEBSITE (IN CASE OF CHANGE OF DATE).
SCI shall select candidates from amongst those eligible and successful in the IMU entrance examination (CET) and followed by counseling which will be held during counseling session at IMU centers on dates announced by IMU. Selected candidates are required to under go medical examination by any DG approved medical officer at their own cost & should pass MMD eye sight test.
Fee structure for training at MTI, Mumbai will be as follows:-
- Advance fee upon selection after medical examination & certificate verification, Rs. 60,000/- to SCI prior being offered letter of admission.
- Payment in favour of SCI on first day of joining MTI Rs. 90,000/- by male candidates and Rs. 68,000/- by female candidates.
- Payment in favour of SCI on first day of joining the second semester at MTI Rs. 90,000/- by male candidates and Rs. 68,000/- by female candidates.
All payments to SCI shall be made by DD drawn in favour of The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd, payable at Mumbai from any nationalized Bank. In addition to above fees payable to SCI,all candidates would be required to pay by DD drawn in favour of IMU payable at Chennai, separately to IMU for additional amount required by IMU as programme fee or any other fees.
Theentire training expenses at MTI, Mumbai for candidates belonging to SC/ST /Below poverty line categories shall be borne by SCI.
Admission letter to the candidates belonging to SC/ST /OBC/BPL (Below poverty line) categories will be issued only on production of the relevant certificates to that effect issued by the competent government authorities. The SC/ST/OBC certificates should be in the Central Government prescribed format. Sample of same may be downloaded from our website
