CHARLES TYRWHITT AUTUMN/WINTER 2006
This season Charles Tyrwhitt builds upon its twenty year heritage of quality and understated style to create a truly classic English look with an irreverent twist. The driving force behind this season’s designs is James Whishaw, formerly of Gieves & Hawkes, now Creative Director of Charles Tyrwhitt. Under his guidance Charles Tyrwhitt offer their most versatile and the largest collection yet, with new suiting styles, improved fits and exclusive yarns.
Menswear
Suiting Range Grows
In addition to last season’s hugely successful launch of classic English pin-stripe and plain worsted men’s wool suits, the autumn/winter ’06 collection includes an Italian wool, two button suit with flat front trousers. Perfect for cooler weather, Charles Tyrwhitt also introduce a men’s needle cord suit in navy, olive and biscuit, a classic wool blazer in super 110s and a range of herringbone jackets.
Eveningwear is introduced with the Charles Tyrwhitt dinner suit – classic, peaked lapel, one button jacket cut from mohair mix woven in England. The stylish evening look is completed with Charles Tyrwhitt shirt, bow tie and patent leather shoes – cemented soles and a slim fit make for the lightest of dancing shoes.
Classic Designs, Bold Colours
To mark the twentieth anniversary of Charles Tyrwhitt an exclusive 200 thread count shirt is added to the formal shirts collection – a meticulously crafted dress shirt for the connoisseur. Sterling silver cufflinks and collar stiffeners take this shirt into a league of its own.
White collars and cuffs adorn the new Winchester shirt, a classic Jermyn Street look for the boardroom new to Charles Tyrwhitt. Slim fit shirting expands into the non-iron and Sea Island versions - two shirts exclusive to Charles Tyrwhitt. Ties in densely woven fabrics, both English and Italian, are colourful and quirky this season. Classic stripes are spiced up in imaginative colour ways. Seven fold silk ties are now double woven, offering two tones of colour on the front and reverse, a covert design.
Charles Tyrwhitt’s less structured offerings for Autumn Winter include a “Friday” shirt, to be worn with or without a tie. The collar is soft and the colours funky and bold, with stiffeners included to allow the shirt to be worn with a tie should the mood change. Rich and lustrous Italian woven cotton/cashmere casual shirts are also added to the range.
Covetable Cashmere
New in knitwear Charles Tyrwhitt introduce a merino / cashmere mix available in crew, v neck and three button styles, the perfect winter accompaniment to five-pocket moleskin trousers. Luxury 12-gauge cashmere is revisited with the addition of a new zip fronted style. All cashmere is top dyed for depth and consistency of colour. Chunky, hand knitted cardigans in lambswool and cashmere mix provide a more relaxed way to layer.
Outerwear
Beat the British weather with a choice of nine coats to tackle shower and cold snaps - from classic cashmere overcoats, traditional covert coats with velvet collars and a ¾ length bonded cotton water repellent Macs to casual quilted coats, Bridge coats and windbreakers.
Step Out In Tyrwhitt
Shoes and accessories complete the customer’s wardrobe. French calf leather is cut in one piece to produce a brogue that moulds to the wearer’s foot over time. The best of British boots – military and latchet – are available in burnished, waxed, plain and textured leathers as well as suede. The Cabin Collection offers a range of coordinating luggage in sturdy but stylish bridle leather and washed canvas, from practical wash bag to large travel bag. Cashmere lined leather gloves and silk scarves in traditional prints add a finishing touch.
Womenswear
New Shirting
Charles Tyrwhitt’s classic shirting is renewed this season with bold new stripes and patterns and updated fabrics. Sheer cotton/ silk shirts made from the finest Italian blends are introduced with frill or pleated fronts in a selection of solids and patterns. Also new are elegant satin blouses that easily go from day into night. Fitted and 140- thread count Sea Island quality range shirts round out the collection with offerings in classic black and white combined with rich fruity colours.
Fine Tailoring
Wool suiting in the finest of European wool/Lycra twill is cut in a semi-fitted style to complement any figure in black and charcoal pinstripe mélange. Subtle details such as pink piping in all lining and kick pleats at the back of knee length skirts add a touch of elegance to the new suiting. Autumn/ Winter 2006 also introduces new casual tailoring from Charles Tyrwhitt—short cropped jackets in soft velvets and textured wools, casual trousers in a slim bootleg or wide leg cut, and A-line skirts with a delicate lace trim.
Delectable Sweaters
Pair these great fall looks with essential 100% cashmere sweaters in classic crew neck, V-neck, roll-neck or round-neck cardigans. Or for those chilly winter days, layer with a luxury cashmere belted cowl neck cardigan in deep rich colours. Try the new angora cardigans with mother-of-pearl buttons or sexy deep v-neck cashmere/ silk sweaters to accent a feminine dress for a night on the town. Coupled with classic ballet flats or modern urban healed boots in deep chocolate brown and soft black leather, Tyrwhitt helps the woman of style complete a refined, feminine look. Tyrwhitt has also created an iconic loafer with classic stitching and rubber-moulded soles, available in chocolate brown, rich ruby red, and moss green.
Finishing Touches
Charles Tyrwhitt keeps you warm and fashionable this winter with a selection of stylish women’s coats ranging from a knee length elegant cotton raincoat to a long winter coat in nutty browns with rusty orange highlights. Finished off with Italian leather and suede gloves that are both lined in cashmere and cashmere woven scarves and wraps made from 100% cashmere from Scotland, the look is flawless, feminine, and most importantly, warm.
Also new for Tyrwhitt this season is an expanded casual range of rugby shirts, silk cotton jersey cardigans, and soft nightwear.
