The goals of our meet are to:(1) give a last-chance qualification opportunity for Edmonton-area swimmers to qualify for Age Group Trials; (2) fill a void on the calendar for swimmers between the age group trials and Western National level; and (3) provide a short session of competition for any Senior/Western National swimmers looking to get some races in before Western Nationals the following week.
- ELIGIBILITY
All swimmers currently registered with SNC are eligible. This is an invitational swim meet. 10 and Under swimmers must have an “Alberta A Time standard”, no qualifying times are required for swimmers 11 years of age or older. Coach’s estimates are preferred to No Time entries. All current Swimming/Natation Canada rules will be followed.
- AGE GROUPS
All events will be swum as Open events. Results will be posted for Four age groups:
10 and under, 11–12, 13–14, 15 and over
- SEEDING
All events will be seeded from SLOWEST TO FASTEST except the 400 Free and 200 IM. All events will be TIMED FINALS, except for the 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Free and 50Fly. These 4 events will have the top 20 swimmers from all age groups combined swim finals. The finals for 50Back and 50 Breast will be held after Event 10 on Saturday and 50 Fly and 50 Free will be held on Sunday after event 24.
All events will be senior seeded.
- MEET RULES
This meet is sanctioned by Swim Alberta, abiding by the rules and regulations of Swimming/Natation Canada and FINA, contained in the current SNC rule book and IPC unless otherwise stipulated in this meet package.
Please note: Anti-doping control will NOT be conducted during the competition; as a result, record setting performances will not be recognized by IPC Swimming. (Please refer to IPC Competition Approval Guidelines).
- ENTRY LIMITS
Swimmers are limited to a MAXIMUM OF SEVEN (7) events.
The 400 free may be swum with two swimmers per lane and only freestyle will be permitted. This event will be swum fastest to slowest. In the event that the 400 free has to be limited in number of swimmers, each team will be allowed a set number of entrants based on percentage of swimmers attending the competition.At the discretion of the Meet Manager the 200 Free may also be double-laned. Depending on the number of entries, the 400 I.M. may also have a maximum number of heats.
The Meet is limited to 250 swimmers. Entries will be accepted from invited teams only. The meet manager reserves the right to limit the number of swimmers from individual teams. The Meet Manager will use his discretion to expand this limit in striving to accommodate all swimmers from the same club in the last eligible entry.
- ENTRIES AND ENTRY FEES
The entry feesare $6.75 per individual event.
Entries are to be submitted on Hy-tek via the Swimming Canada website.

- OFFICIALS
We would like to invite any parents that are able to volunteer to officiate and take advantage of the Silver Tide hospitality provided to officials. Millennium Place has limited seating capacity, and most bleacher space will be required by the swimmers. Parents wanting to watch the competition should volunteer to officiate. - SCORING
There will be no scoring for this competition.
- AWARDS
No awards will be provided.
13.COACHES MEETING
There will be a coaches meeting on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the timing room on the pool deck at the Millennium Place.
14.SCRATCHES
Please submit scratches to the Clerk of the Course a minimum of 40 minutes prior to the start of each session. Late scratches will not eliminate the swimmer from subsequent events.
Refunds for scratches will only be made if received by February 4, 2012. Any scratches made after this date will not be refunded.
- PROGRAM CHANGES
The Meet Manager reserves the right to alter, revise or otherwise modify the program to ensure the maximum number of swims in sessions of reasonable length, following receipt of entries.
Coaches will be advised of any changes prior to the start of the meet.
