Scholarship and Award Application

The Tredyffrin-Easttown Music Parents Organization (TEMPO) offers scholarships and awards to students who have participated in the music program at Conestoga High School and who plan to make music a part of their college experience. To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must plan to major in music, musical theatre, music education, or a related field at college. To be eligible for an award, a student must plan to make music or musical theatre a part of his or her college experience without majoring in those fields (e.g. an expectation of participating in an a cappellagroup, ensembles, musical productions, marching band, etc.). In addition, all recipients must be students in good standing as defined by the Conestoga and Tredyffrin-Easttown School District administration. Recipients’families must be TEMPO members.

To be eligiblefor the Choral Scholarship orAward, a student must have participatedin Conestoga’schoral program. To be eligible for the Instrumental Scholarship orAward, a student must have participated in a curricular activity such as orchestra,concert band, or anyof the instrumentalensembles. Students whoparticipated in marching band are also eligiblefor an Instrumental Scholarshipor Award.

The Instrumental Awards are named in honor of Anton F. Kiehner, a long-tenured music director at Conestoga. At his retirement, music alumni, parents, and friends contributed to a fund that is the source of those scholarships and awards. The Choral scholarships and awards are funded by TEMPO.

Scholarships and Awards are presented at the Music Banquet.

Please hand in the completed form and essay by FridayApril 28, 2017 to the teachers in the Music Office. You will be contacted for more information about interviews to be scheduled for May 13th, 2017.
