Using Atlas in Your Quality Review
The Atlas Curriculum Management system is a useful tool to demonstrate how your school meets different indicators for the NYC Quality Review. This guide begins by running reports to showcase different indicators, then demonstrates how to setup a dashboard for your reviewer so everything is in one place.
I. Running the Reports
Showcasing standards assessment alignment
(1.1a, 2.2a)
With a standards analysis report, you can showcase which standards are being aligned to, which standards are being assessed, and where.
From Reports drop-down menu, select Standards Analysis:
- Ifshowing schoolwide standards alignment, skip to step 4.
- Use the filters on the left to locate your Courses you wish to analyze, then click Submit.
- Check the box(s) for specific standards and click Standards Overview to view a comprehensive report.
- Select Actions, Save and type a name for your report.
Tips:
- Click on the plus to the left of a standard to see alignment to each strand.
- The progress bars and numbers are active links to different reports.
- Saving a report allows you to come back to it at a later time.
Showcasing Higher-Order Skills, Reflective Practice, & Resource Use

With a Scope & Sequence report, you can view a mapping category (i.e. - skills, content, etc.) across grades or subject areas.
From Reports drop-down menu, select Scope and Sequence:
- Use the filters on the left to locate the Courses you wish to review, then click Browse.
- Check the box next to the Courses you wish to include in your report and click Close.
- Select the Mapping Category you want to investigate across the selected courses.
- Click View Report or Submit to view your report.
- Select Actions, Save and type a name for your report.
Tips:
- The report works best with 6 or fewer courses at a time.
- To generate reports for different indicators, change the Mapping Category in the dropdown and click view report. To demonstrate Resource Use (1.3a) select Resources. To demonstrate reflective practices (1.1c) select Reflection.

Showcasing Assessment Variety, Rigor, & Common Assessments

Depending on how your system is setup, the Assessment Methods report can highlight a variety of key details about how you assess students.
From Reports drop-down menu, select Assessment Methods:
- For a schoolwide view, select Actions, Save and type a name for your report.
- Use the filters on the left to focus your report, then click Submit.
- Select Assessment Levels from the drop-down menu above the report to demonstrate rigor
Tips:
- The pie chart is interactive. Click on a slice to see a list of all assessments in that category.
- To adjust an assessment: teachers with editing privileges navigate to a course, select a unit, then click the pencil icon next to the assessment they want to edit.
- If your school uses the Assessment Method “Test: Common”, you can showcase how often these are used by selecting it from the By Assessment Method filter, selecting Submit, then clicking on the pie graphto show a list of the common assessments.
Showcasing Curricular Revision

With an Activity report, you can demonstrate when and how teachers are updating their curriculum.
From Search drop-down menu, select Activity:
- Click the Search button to generate an Activity report.
- To limit the report to Curriculum Updates, adjust the by Activity Type filter and select Search.
- Select Actions, Save and type a name for your report.
II. Setting up for your Reviewer
Create a dashboard for your reviewer
From Admin drop-down menu, select Design My Atlas Dashboards:
1.Click Design a New My Atlas Dashboard.
2.Name the dashboard and click Save.
3.ClickPersonalizeto add panels to your new My Atlas Dashboard.
4.Select My Saved Reports. Click Pin to My Atlas below any report you want readily accessible to the reviewer. Then click Close.
5.To arrange your panels, place your cursor over a panel heading. A four arrow cursorwill appear. Hold down the mouse button and drag the panel to a new location on yourMy Atlas.
Tips:
- To change a report’s name, click the report image. Then, select Save As from the Actions button. Return to adjust the dashboard byselectingDesign My Atlas Dashboards then select your dashboard name from the dropdown list below the Design a New My Atlas Dashboard.Click the X on the old report and add the newly named report with the Personalize button.
Creating a login for your reviewer
We’d recommend creating an account for your reviewer. This will allow you to build a dashboard and put everything in one place for them.
From Admin drop-down menu, select Teachers and Privileges:
1. Click Add New Teacher
2. Complete the Last Name, First Name, and email text fields.
3. Select the My Atlas Dashboard you just created.
4. Click Save.
5.Your reviewer will be able to see what you’ve prepared by going to your Atlas site’s URL, entering the email you used to create their account, and your system’s default password.
6.To locate your system’s default password, select Reset Passwords from the Admin tab. The default password is displayed at the bottom of the text block.
