Age: As at 25th of October 2015

Age groups: 10-12 years, 13/14 years, 15-18 years and 19/over

Entry fees: £5.75 individual event.

Coaches pass: £4.00 includes weekend programme and start sheets (per club)

Coaches meal: £9.50 per person per day

Awards 50, 100 and 200m events: Medals will be presented to top 3 in each event

50m sprint – additional cash prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (see meet rules)

Invitation Medley Skins event – cash prize for 1st and 2nd (see meet rules)

4x100m IM single gender relay (each swimmer swims an individual 100m IM) - there will be no award for this event

Best boy and girl in each age group

Best club based on overall points

Clubs are asked to provide technical officials and assist with timekeeping. In return we will provide lunch for officials and travel expenses where appropriate.

CARNEGIE WINTER MEET

Sheppard Swim School Sprint Event

We are grateful to Sheppard Swim School for again sponsoring our sprint event this year. The school runs training camps for all levels of swimmer over the summer, October and Easter holidays. Further event sponsor info available at http://www.sheppardswimschool.co.uk

There will be cash prizes for those placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the 50m Freestyle sprint events, with separate events for males and females and for each age group (10-12 years, 13/14 years, 15-18 years and 19/over).

Prize money: 10-12 years, 13/14 years, 15-18 years - £25 first place, £15 second, £10 third

19 and over - £50 first place, £25 second, £10 third

In the case of equal placings the prize money will be divided equally between the two tied placings.

Meet Rules

·  The meet shall be held under S.A.S.A. laws.

·  Age is as on the last day of the competition.

·  All swimmers of Scottish clubs must have a current S.A.S.A. registration number. All swimmers of non-Scottish clubs must be registered with their governing body.

·  Electronic timing will be in operation. In the event of electronic failure, back-up manual timing will be used.

·  No photographic or video equipment will be allowed in any area under the jurisdiction of the meet organisers without prior approval of the meet director. Application must be made on the approved S.A.S.A. form.

·  It is the responsibility of each club to ensure that their swimmers are aware of the meet rules and guidelines.

·  Entries for the 50m sprint event will only be accepted if the swimmer enters at least two other individual events.

·  Entries for the 4x100m IM relay will be limited to swimmers aged 15 and over. Please note there will be no award for the winning team.

Entries

·  Entries from composite teams and composite entries from groups of clubs will not be accepted.

·  Closing date for entries Wednesday 24th September 2015.

·  All entries should be emailed to

·  Withdrawals must be made to the recorders no later than 45 minutes prior to the start of each session.

·  There are no refunds for entries withdrawn after the draft programme is prepared.

Events

·  Over the top starts may be used at the discretion of the promoter to facilitate the smooth running of the meet.

·  Swimmers must report to the competition stewards in the designated marshalling area at least five heats in advance.

·  Swimmers wishing to withdraw from finals must do so within 15 minutes from the end of their event. Failure to do so may result in that swimmer being withdrawn from the remainder of the meet.

·  There will be a maximum of three reserves per event.

Miscellaneous

·  The meet is licensed and a level 2 accreditation will be applied for.

·  The promoters reserve the right to exclude or refuse admission to any competitor, spectator or team official.

·  Swimmers and coaches must not take glassware into the showers or poolside and are liable for expulsion from the meet if they do.

·  Neither Carnegie Swimming Club nor Michael Wood Sports & Leisure Centre can be held responsible for loss or damage to swimmers, team staff or spectators property. Swimmers are strongly advised to secure their property and not to leave belongings lying around unattended.

·  Swimmers outwith the poolside must wear dry clothing and footwear at all times.

·  The promoter’s reserve the right to restrict entries if required. Entries will be accepted on time basis. Clubs should ensure entry times are accurate. Rejected entries will be refunded in full.

·  Carnegie Swimming Club reserves the right to vary the above conditions as necessary.

·  No guarantee can be given by Carnegie Swimming Club that the event will take place at a particular time, place or date and reserve the right to reschedule the event without notice and without liability for doing so. It is expected that this would only be as a result of unforeseen circumstances, e.g. venue/facility failure or adverse weather.

In the event of postponement, cancellation or abandonment of the event, refunds if any, will be made at the absolute discretion of Carnegie Swimming Club.

Carnegie Swimming Club will have no legal liability to make a refund or to pay any form of consequential or indirect damage such as loss of enjoyment, travel and accommodation costs.

Carnegie Winter Open Meet “Invitation Medley Skins” Event Rules

1.  This “Invitation Medley Skins” event will be a continuous competition commencing with 8 competitors and, over a continuous series of races over a distance of 50m one or more, competitors will be eliminated in each round until a winner is determined.

2.  Skins competitions will be held for:

a.  Boys 14 years and under

b.  Boys 15 years and over

c.  Girls 14 years and under

d.  Girls 15 years and over

3.  Events (a) and (b) will swim concurrently with a separation of 90 seconds between races. Younger Age Group starts first. Events (c) and (d) will follow the same format.

4.  Age as on 25th October 2015.

5.  The Prizes for each event will be:

1st - £35 2nd - £15

In the event of equal placings the prize money will be divided equally between the two tied placings.

6.  The competitors for each event shall be the fastest eight 200m I.M swimmers in each age.

7.  Lanes will be allocated on the basis of “spearheading” in accordance with FINA swimming rule SW312 – the highest point scoring swimmer occupying the centre lane. Swimmers are required to swim in their allocated lane whilst they remain in the competition until the final race. The remaining two swimmers will occupy the centre lanes – the highest point qualifying swimmer occupying Lane 4 the second swimmer in Lane 5.

8.  The stroke for each individual race will be by random draw from a choice of Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Backstroke. The draw for the stroke to be contested in the first round will be undertaken by a person to be nominated by the meet promoter. Draws for subsequent rounds will be by the swimmer eliminated from the previous round. If more than one swimmer is eliminated in a round, the draw will be by the first swimmer eliminated, or by decision of the Referee if eliminated at the same time.

9.  The first race in each Event will commence in accordance with SASA Swimming Rules governing the Start of the selected stroke. Each race shall be over a distance of 50m.

10.  Subsequent rounds will start following an interval of 3 minutes from the previous start. The referee will give a 10 second warning by whistle.

11.  There will be eliminations in each round going 8, 6, 4, 2.

12.  Times achieved by swimmers cannot to be used for any other purpose. Determination of the slowest swimmer will be by the Referee utilising either Automatic Officiating Equipment (AOE) or manual Finish Judges, in accordance with FINA Swimming Rules governing placing. Should AOE be used the Referee shall determine whether it operated correctly.

13.  In the case of more than one swimmer being disqualified, or swimmers achieving equal placings all affected swimmers are eliminated.

14.  In the case of swimmers achieving equal placings in the final race, the race will be declared a tie, and the prize money will be divided equally between the two remaining swimmers.

15.  If any issue arises not covered by the above then that issue will be determined by the meet promoters.
