Bolt-in Chassis for ’47-’53 GM ½-Ton Trucks from Schwartz Performance

Woodstock, IL – With over a year of testing, thousands of miles and autocross wins across the country, Schwartz Performance is excited to offer theirnew and improved complete G-Machine chassis for GM ½-ton trucks from 1947-1953!

Mid-century era trucks were designed as utilitarian, no frills vehicles. They were bought to serve and haul as function far outweighed driveability. Today, these trucks are favorites for restoration projects but who wants their hot rod to perform like an old truck? This is where Schwartz Performance can help.

The Schwartz G-Machine chassis will roll right in place of the clunky ’47-’53 Chevy and GMC ½-ton factory chassis to update the overall ride and handling of the truck. The G-Machine chassis is engineered to bolt into the factory mounting points of the cab, the bed and even the factory running board mounts!

The Schwartz chassis features 6-inch frame rails to provide a robust foundation for your truck. The chassis provides a lower ride height to immediately improve stance as well as handling. Combined with modern suspension componentry and geometry, you’ll have a truck with a comfortable ride down the road coupled with the superior handling you would never expect from a classic truck.

The front suspension features upper A-arms fit with needle-bearingsthat are engineered with separate camber and caster adjustments (without using shims). In the rear you’ll find a four-bar system with teflon-lined spherical rod-ends for bind-free operation and a smooth ride. The Schwarz chassis design incorporates longer shocks at all four corners to improve maximum suspension travel at ride height resulting in a smooth, luxury car ride quality.

The G-Machine chassis is designed for nearly any GM drivetrainand features an adjustable transmission mount. If you want performance, handling and comfort in your classic truck, go to to start building your own chassis!
