Logistics and Infrastructure Planning

The focus is to complete outbound logistics and infrastructure planning for BHP Billiton Minerals Australia coal operations. As a support role you will undertake planning and provide technical support to the business with respect to all outbound logistics and infrastructure activities. This role will see you perform a diverse range of work engaging with multiple stakeholders. You will influence portfolio-wide strategy while applying your technical and modelling expertise to achieve excellent planning. The role requires a strong ability to challenge and facilitate change for execution by mine, infrastrucute, rail and port operations. You will work alongside mine and logistics and infrastructure engineers in a dynamic team that measures success by the long-term value created.

Mine Planning

You will have a strong focus on value and delivery. You may come from a technical mining specialist background, right through to being a “technical translator,” charged with developing strategic direction for a given mine.

These exciting opportunities are involved with the strategic planning of the organisation so will cover all spectrums of mining engineering and touch all facets of the business.

Geoscience and Exploration Planning

You will be involved in the acquisition and interpolation of both open pit and exploration data to identify geological structures within the resource. The intent is to provide accurate coal surfaces for the mining process to maximize coal recovery. You will provide geological input to both Mine Planning and Production to support coal mining activities and manage coal inventories. You will also have the opportunity for project work which may include design of exploration programs, wireline logging interpretation, coal quality management, geotechnical hazard management, monthly coal reconciliation.

You will also be provided with the opportunity to design, refine and implement new processes and procedures with the aim of adding value to Operations and improving the effectiveness of the Geology team.

Geoscience and Exploration Technology

You will support the team with creating long-term value through the governance, development and integration of geological data in the discovery, development and conversion of natural resources. A commitment to providing innovative solutions that are customer focused and set the standard for data management is also essential, as is enhancing the process of building resources and reserves which enable confident forward looking decisions that maximise opportunities to create sustainable value for BHP Billiton.
