“The Creation”
(Backing Track – Creation Music)
Narrator 1:In the beginning God created the world. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God made people to love and live with him forever. But we turned away from him, to live in darkness.
Narrator 2:But God had pity on the world. Through his messenger, Isaiah, he promised to send them a Saviour, who would rescue them and bring them back from death to life – from darkness to light.
Isaiah:Rejoice, you people, who live in darkness, a Light will shine upon you. All nations will come to this Light. Kings and camels will come from the East, bringing gifts of gold and incense. This Light will shine for ever.
Rejoice
So let’s dance and rejoice,
Clap our hands, lift our voice.
God is good
So let’s all sing
Praises to the one who is the Lord of everything.
God is King!
God is King!
Rejoice, rejoice in God above.
A light will shine into the dark
And fill the world with love.
To lead us back to God once more
And free from sorrow, sin and death.
We will live for evermore.
So let’s dance and rejoice,
Clap our hands, lift our voice.
God is good
So let’s all sing
Praises to the one who is the Lord of everything.
God is King!
God is King!
Rejoice, rejoice in God above.
A light will shine into the dark
And fill the world with love.
To lead us back to God once more
And free from sorrow, sin and death.
We will live for evermore.
So let’s dance and rejoice,
Clap our hands, lift our voice.
God is good
So let’s all sing
Praises to the one who is the Lord of everything.
God is King!
God is King!
Narrator 3:In the little town of Nazareth, a young girl named Mary was busy working in the house. Suddenly a great light filled the room and an angel from heaven appeared to her. The angel’s name was Gabriel. He told Mary that God loved her very much, because she was a very good person. He also told her that he had some very special news for her
Listen To Me, Mary
Listen to me, Mary,
Listen as I sing.
You will have a baby,
Born to be a king.
He will rule forever,
Reign in peace and love.
You must call him Jesus,
Son of God above.
Tell me holy angel,
How will this be done?
Who will be the father
Of my baby son?
I am just a young girl
Living on my own,
Till I wed my husband,
I shall be alone.
Listen Holy Mary,
What I say is true.
God the Holy Spirit,
Will come down on you.
Only by his power,
Only by his love,
Can your baby Jesus
Come from God above, above
Come from God above, above,
Come from God above.
(Next narration continues over remaining music)
Narrator 4:The Angel Gabriel also told Mary that her cousin Elizabeth was also going to have a baby, so she prepared for a long journey into the hillside country of Judea to visit her. Mary stayed on until Elizabeth had her baby, whom she named John. After staying with Elizabeth for three months, Mary said goodbye and went back home to Nazareth.
Narrator 5:And it came to pass in those days, that there went
Out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the
World should be taxed, (And this taxing was first
Made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the
City of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David,
Which is called Bethlehem (because he was of the
House and lineage of David) to be taxed with Mary
His espoused wife, being great with child.

(Bethlehem music in the background)
Narrator 6:At last Mary and Joseph were coming into the town of Bethlehem. They were very glad because they knew that soon the baby would be born. The town was full of people who had come to be counted as Caesar had decreed. There were crowds of people everywhere. The Inn was full and so were all the houses that could take travellers. People were camping in the streets. Joseph was worried when they could not find a place to stay. But the Innkeeper was kind-hearted and took pity on Mary and Joseph. He suggested that they could stay in the stable where they would be warm and dry.
(Shepherd Music in Background)
Narrator 7:And in that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their sheep by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them:
Angel:Be not afraid, for behold I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you. You will find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger.
Glory to God
Glory to God in the Highest!
We bring a message of joy.
News that will fill you with wonder,
News of the birth of a new baby boy.
You’ll find the child in a manger,
Laid in a bed made of hay.
Jesus the Lord of creation,
Sleeping in Bethlehem,
Born in a stable today.
Praise him a new day is coming,
God has come down from above.
Jesus is coming to save you,
Bringing his mercy, forgiveness and love.
Glory to God in the Highest!
Peace to his people on earth.
Join with the chorus of angels,
Shepherds of Bethlehem,
Shepherds of Bethlehem
Shepherds of Bethlehem,
Sing of his wonderful birth.
Angels:Do not be afraid, do not be afraid,
Hear good news of great joy.
Do not be afraid, do not be afraid,
Come see Mary’s baby boy.
Go to the stable not far away
For a Saviour has been born on this happy day.
Narrator 8:When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing which the Lord has made known to us.” So they proceeded with haste on their journey to Bethlehem.
(Market Music in Background)
Narrator 9:There were lands which even the Romans had never conquered. Their merchants used to travel the great trade routes bringing luxury goods to every corner of the Empire. No-one was very surprised at the sight of a caravan making its way to Jerusalem. True, this one was on a grand scale, and people stopped top admire the richly decorated camels, and to wonder about the magnificently dressed strangers who might have been kings.
Narrator 10:But this was not the caravan of a wealthy merchant, or a king or queen making a state visit. This was the caravan of three astrologers who were following a star without knowing where it would take them. Caspar, Balthasar and Melchior came from different countries, but they had one interest in common – astronomy. For years they had waited for the appearance of an extraordinary star said to herald the birth of a new king of the Jews, and the star had now appeared.
This Must Be A Sign
This must be a sign there is something going on,
We have never seen a sign like this before.
All these years we’ve searched in vain
For a message in the sky.
Now this could be what we’ve all been waiting for.
For the star that shines above us
May be calling us to go
And we’ll find the way
By following the light.
And we’d better get a move on
If we really want to know
Why this star of wonder’s shining
Over us tonight.
This could be the night that the new king has been born,
As the Hebrew scriptures promised long ago.
So let’s go to Palestine for the star is moving west
Leading onward to the place where we must go.
For the star that shines above us
May be calling us to go
And we’ll find the way
By following the light.
And we’d better get a move on
If we really want to know
Why this star of wonder’s shining
Over us tonight.
For the star that shines above us
May be calling us to go
And we’ll find the way
By following the light.
And we’d better get a move on
If we really want to know
Why this star of wonder’s shining
Over us tonight.
Follow the light! Follow the light!
Follow the light! Follow the light!
Narrator 11:And so it was, that, while they were there, the days
Were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and
Wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a
Manger; because there was no room for them in the
Inn.
Away in a Manger
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.
I love thee Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
And stay by my bedside ‘till morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay,
Close by me forever and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven to live with thee there.
Narrator 12:Both the shepherds and the astrologers reached Bethlehem by nightfall and they were overjoyed when they saw the star, shining like a lamp over the stable. They greeted Mary and Joseph and presented their gifts to the new baby, the one who was to bring light into a world of darkness.
Silent Night
Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
‘Round yon Virgin Mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace!
Sleep in heavenly peace!
Oíche chiúin, oíche Mhic Dé,
Cách na suan, dís araon,
Dís is dílse faire le spéir,
Naíon beag gnaoighgheal ceannantais caomh,
Críost ‘na chodladh go séimh,
Críost ‘na chodladh go séimh.
Narrator 13:Tonight the message of Christmas lives and loves for all people and moves quietly over the grey walls and in through locked doors and says, “Tonight, we are a family, for unto every one of us a child is born, whoever and wherever you are on this most sacred of nights”.
Narrator 14:Listen….. voices are singing and the words are specially for you and your brothers and sisters. All is calm …. All is quiet. Listen to the words and hear them – a message for all humankind. Peace on Earth, goodwill to all people.
All:Times have passed, come and gone; each age had its story.
Some were great, some were sad and some were grim and gory.
Yet not one can compare with this one we have told you,
Of our Lord Jesus Christ, The King of Peace and glory.
Good News!
La la la la la la la la la la.
We’ve seen the new born King!
La la la la la la la la la la.
Hear the good news we bring!
La la la la la la la la la la.
We’ve seen the new born King!
La la la la la la la la la la.
Hear the good news we bring!
We heard - a song
And looked up into the sky,
And then - we saw -
These angels way up high.
And they said,
“Today a child is born in Bethlehem for you”.
The promise given long ago
Has now at last come true.
So we sing:
La la la la la la la la la la.
We’ve seen the new born King!
La la la la la la la la la la.
Hear the good news we bring!
La la la la la la la la la la.
We’ve seen the new born King!
La la la la la la la la la la.
Hear the good news we bring!
We knew – one day –
The King was coming to reign.
To rule – the earth –
And set us free again.
But we thought he’d come with trumpet blast,
With armour and a shield.
But never thought he’d come to us
Poor shepherds in a field.
So we sing:
La la la la la la la la la la.
We’ve seen the new born King!
La la la la la la la la la la.
Hear the good news we bring!
La la la la la la la la la la.
We’ve seen the new born King!
La la la la la la la la la la.
Hear the good news we bring!
Let the world rejoice again,
Jesus Christ our Saviour’s
Born in Bethlehem.
Let the world rejoice again,
Jesus Christ our Saviour’s
Born in Bethlehem.
