2050 - STUDENT TEACHING FINANCIAL AWARDS FEE POLICY

The policy of the Davis Board of Education is that compensation received from East Central University for participating in the Student Teaching Program will be dispersed following the recommended guidelines from the universities. The percentage of disbursement per school year will be at least 51 percent to be awarded to high school seniors and high school graduates with parents on staff, and not more than 49 percent to be awarded to staff.

High school students who are seniors must complete an application in the spring. The amount of available compensation will determine how many students will receive awards. The maximum award that may be awarded to a student is $600. Awarding student grants will be the decision of the Board of Education.

Certified personnel must complete the request form for a fee waiver. Preference up to the equivalent of three (3) graduate credit hours will be given to certified teachers who have had student teachers during the present school year. Certified personnel must take courses directly related to their professional activities to qualify for the financial award. These financial awards will be approved by the Board of Education.

Applications from high school seniors, graduate children of staff members, and certified personnel must be submitted to the Superintendent's Office by May 1 (for the following summer, fall, or spring semesters) to receive financial awards. At this time the applicants must select which semester (summer, fall, or spring) that they wish to use the award.

In the event that any portion of the accrued balance of the East Central University Teaching Program will expire if not used before time of next award, applicants may receive an award equal to the expiring balance divided by the number of those applying.

Fee waivers from Southeastern Oklahoma State University are available only to certified personnel, as determined by SEOSU’s regulations. Application must be submitted to the Superintendent’s office by May 1, using the same guidelines as application for East Central University fee waivers.
