Polished product expectations:
~All projects will be completed on a poster that is 16x16. Cut a poster to this size.
~All work will fit within this poster with no work hanging over the sides.
~All art work will be finished in appearance with colors purposefully chosen.
~All written work will be typed with thought given to space on the poster.
Fiction Novels:
Write 1 thematic statement that begins with “I believe that…” This statement should reflect of one of the most major messages in the novel. What idea was the author expressing about life and human nature?
Choose3 significant passagesthat support your thematic statement. Type them in MLA format. Place the passage in quotes with this at the end (Author’s Last Name Page #).
Example: “Blah blah blah” (Fitzgerald 25).
After each passage, write 2-3 sentences of commentary that explains how the passage connects and supports your “I Believe” statement. Commentary always focuses on what the author was trying to achieve with the ideas shared. Use commentary VERBS in your commentary. I will provide this handout for you.
Draw 3 symbols that connect to your big thematic idea. Add color. Remember that colors are symbolic.
Write 3 open-ended, deeper level (discussion-type) questions that could be answered with deeper thought and analysis. Then, answer each (2-3 sentence response). These will connect to main thematic idea.

Write 1 purpose statement that begins with “I believe that…” that explains the purpose of your book. Was your book written to inform, explain, entertain, persuade? Then, continue this statement with an “in order that” comment that explains the purpose with more detail.

- Create a polished product. Add borders. Avoid sloppy work.
You do NOT need to be an artist to create this poster. However, you do need to show pride is your work.
