The following equipment is available for hire from the Stores. Please note that there is another store in Basingstoke, if the items you require cannot be supplied from Winchester. There is a hire charge for each item per week, which must be paid for upon collection (cheques made payable to Hampshire County Council), otherwise we can Park Journal those on the HCC finance system if requested. Please see the conditions of hire and use below. Additional equipment for climbing and canoeing can be made available with prior notice.

Camping Items

CONDITIONS

1.  When you collect kit you must to provide a cheque or cash for £50 payable to Hampshire County Council as a deposit. This will be returned to you when the equipment is returned on the date arranged and the equipment is in good condition. The deposit will not be returned if the equipment is returned late, incomplete or in an unsatisfactory condition for example wet, muddy or broken.

  1. Equipment is only available to staff and young people in approved activities or training opportunities. Not normally for private use.
  1. Equipment must be pre-booked by emailing or telephoning the Storekeeper at least 2 weeks in advance with your order. Please be aware that during busy times it advisable that you make your booking well in advance.
  1. Arrangements for collection and return of the hired equipment should be made with the Storekeeper only.
  1. Payment of Hire is at the time of collection (unless charges are requested by via Park Journal).
  1. Equipment should be returned dried, clean and in good working order. The storekeeper will check in the kit and inform you of any ‘problems’ and/or missing items. Borrowers are fully responsible for the full replacement value of equipment (including VAT) if that equipment is lost or damaged unless it is damaged by normal wear/tear or reasonable circumstances (carelessness not included!)
  1. If you are late returning, your rental fee will be extended and your deposit of £50 will not be returned. After a month of no return, you will be invoiced for the amount to replace the item(s)
  1. We will endeavour to keep the Stores open on a regular basis from 1 March to 30 October.

FOR HIRE OF CYCLE TRAILERS

These are kept at the DofE Office and not at the Winchester or Basingstoke stores.

The trailers can only be hired/used by cycle leader qualified staff.

Leaders must make themselves familiar with the safety and care instructions and ensure they are adhered to.

Trailers can only be used on cycles with a quick-release rear wheel, where the spindle can temporarily be replaced with a trailer locking spindle.

One trailer can only be used to carry a normal expedition load for one person.

The hire charge covers normal wear and tear, not damage or loss. Hirers will be charged for

·  lost trailers

·  buckled wheels

·  missing or damaged rear wheel locking spindles

·  mud-guards damaged beyond repair

·  missing fittings

·  opened inner tube boxes
