Mid-Season Processing Tomato Variety Trial Field Day

9:30 – 11:00 am - Tuesday, September 30, 2008

The trial is located in Westley east of Hwy 33 between Cox and Vineyard Rds. (see map and road signs for details). The trial contains 12 varieties in the replicated block and another 8 lines in the observation block. The trial was transplanted on May 29, 2008 into double-rows, 60-inch-wide beds and subsurface drip-irrigated. The field variety is AB2. The trial is approaching maturity and harvest is expected to occur in early-October. There will be an update and discussion on the current season’s pest and disease problems and current research efforts aimed at their management. I look forward to seeing you on the 30th.

The trial this year is conducted in cooperation with

Stanislaus County grower Leroy Del Don (Del Don Farms, Inc.) and

ranch manager John Campos (Del Don Farms, Inc.).

Best regards,

Jan Mickler, Vegetable Crops Advisor
