A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE ROBERT WAYNE “ROBBIE” COOKSEY OF SPARTANBURG, FOR HIS ACHIEVEMENTS IN WRESTLING AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, being a member of a sports team allows young people to have the opportunity to learn the skills of cooperation and teamwork while developing great athletic talents; and

Whereas, to become a champion in wrestling, one must have outstanding discipline and physical abilities; and

Whereas, Robert Wayne “Robbie” Cooksey of Spartanburg has been wrestling for Broome High School for four years and holds the Broome High School record with 136 wins and is Broom High’s first 3time, All State Wrestler; and

Whereas, with his record improving each year, Robbie has gone from a record of 2311 his freshman year to 441 his senior year; and

Whereas, as a freshman, Robbie ranked second in the region and second in the county, and his sophomore year he was fourth in the State, Region Champion, Spartanburg County Champion, and was named to the All Region and All State teams; and

Whereas, during his junior year in high school, Robbie went from fourth in the State to third, placed first in the Upper State Championship, was honored as the Regional Champion, placed first at the North Myrtle Beach Invitational, and was once again named to the All Region and All State teams; and

Whereas, most recently, Robbie has been named the AAA State Champion at 189 pounds, has placed first in the Upper State Championship and the North Myrtle Beach “Superman” Invitational and is the Spartanburg County Champion; and

Whereas, in addition to his recent achievements, Robbie capped an extraordinary fouryear high school wrestling career as a North South All Star Classic Participant and member of the All Region and the All State teams; and

Whereas, Robbie Cooksey has brought pride to not only Broome High School, its faculty, students, alumni, and friends, but also to Spartanburg County and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Robert Wayne “Robbie” Cooksey of Spartanburg, for his achievements in wrestling and extend best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Robbie Cooksey of Spartanburg.
