Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a part-time fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Researcher with Lero at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

This position is funded by Science Foundation Ireland and is available from 1stJanuary 2016 to 31stDecember 2018.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work in the area of Sports Performance and Software Flow.This research project examines leading practices, metrics and exemplars in the sporting field and translates these into comparators in the software and product development field. He/shewill be responsible for conducting top-quality empirical research with industry partners. The postdoctoral researcher must have strong industry communication, collaboration and coordination skills to sustain fruitful industry-academic relationships between the partners and the university.

The postdoctoral researcher is expected to publish in the top-tier outlets in information systems and/or software engineering, and must have a strong publication record as well as excellent writing skills.

Furthermore, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to actively participate in new research funding opportunities, such as the development of research proposals. A prior track record of research proposal writing is desirable. The postdoctoral researcher must be a motivated self-starter, as well as being focused and exacting in their work ethic.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Applicants must have a PhD in Information Systems, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Relevant extensive experience in the area of software research and/or sports performance
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbally as well as in writing.
  • Strong publication record.
  • Strong coordination, organisational and management skills.

Desirable

  • Strong software-related technical skills, including word processing software skills.
  • Good record of services to, and participation in, the academic community.
  • Good dissemination skills targeting non-academic audiences (industry-focused).

Salary: €37,750 - €46,255 per annum

Start date: Position is available from 1st January 2016
