3. / NAPP Update – VS sent report
PPG awareness week will be w/c 19th June next year so plenty of time to plan how topresent ourselves to patients.
The RCGP 'patients first campaign is supportedby PPGs promoting 'Winter Self Care' However ' more knowledge about general practice funding is needed to identify the gaps that PPGs can fill.
A survey of 2000 people by Cancer Research UK asked 'What puts people off seeing their GP? As expected the main factors are 1) unable to see doctor of choice 2) unable to get suitable time of appointment 3) Dislike discussion of symptoms with reception. Cancer Research UK suggests this may delay diagnosis of serious illness. Shadbolt practice are well aware of these points and have taken remedial action as far as is possible.
The Estates and Technology Transformation Fund is a multi million pound investment for improving surgery premises and technology. The intention is to improve and expand out of hospital care for patients. The Shadbolt partners are aware of this fund and the situation is ongoing. (See Item 5 below)

4. / MID SURREY PPG/SURREY DOWNS CCG – VS sent report
Surrey Downs CCG Patients Forum met 14th October last. The Lay Public Engagement officer from SDCCG was our guest speaker and we are getting to know each other hoping for closer co-operation between ourselves and SDCCG. Various ways forward were discussed. On your behalf the Forum is monitoring among other things , the evolvement of Surrey Heartlands and the Sustainability & Transformation Plan.
Ashlea Medical Centre supplied copies of their first ever newsletter which I present to our communications team for their interest. AMC also put together and printed for their practice a short list of organisations in the immediate locality that offer information and support to patients. This list was first vetted by their clinicians who were so impressed they keep copies in their consulting rooms to give to patients as required.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 2017. If anyone would care to come along as observer please contact me via the Chair or directly. / VS

6. / FLU DAYS
The surgery thanked all who helped during the Flu Clinics, all clinics ran smoothly without any issues. So far approximately 1500 vaccinations have been given.
Another top up Flu Clinic is planned for 12th December and volunteers to help have been put in place.
There have been some suggestions for improvement for next year, all of which have been addressed. They include
- Whether there is a real need for tea and coffee. It is difficult to give refreshments and also manage the queue – agreed unnecessary
- PPG badges for all volunteers – these to be produced
- Sign to queue for Flu Jabs – this to be produced
- Safe area for volunteer coats and handbags – can be put into the office
7. / Tombola Day
The Tombola Day is 12th December and a schedule of helpers is being put in place. There is a need for help between 1.30 p.m. and 3.00 p.m. so if anyone can assist, please contact JS.
CC will meet on 7th December to ticket up the donations and this year’s fundraising be for Paediatric Oxygen Monitor.

The next Newsletter will be in the Spring (March) and the highlighted member of staff will be Liz Garnish.
LB asked that a notice about the drop in Flu Clinics be included in the Newsletter from the Spring issue onwards. JS to create a ‘light bulb’ notice to be included to highlight this information.
Email Addresses and Mobile Numbers The subject of collecting this information was raised again as this is the most efficient way of contacting people with internet connection. It was suggested that the Shadbolt ladies offer a slip to be completed when possible where this information could be captured. JS will produce such a slip and send to GB-P/LM for approval. / JS
