è  The War Guilt clause was a clause in the treaty that stated that Germany was responsible for World War 2. They had to pay back money to the allied countries. Germany was shamed by the treaty and signing it meant that they were admitting guilt and taking full responsibility when they did not feel at fault. The people were embarrassed and angry for signing the treaty. The Allies believed it was an important for Germany to admit defeat so that the same thing could not happen again in the future. It was also a way for them to seek revenge for the lives lost during the war.

à1920s and 1930s many women were rebelling against society. They had fought for the right to vote and now wanted to be treated equally. They started having social lives outside of the home, dressing more freely and drinking and smoking/ going to nightclubs. During the War women had to go to work to support their families and society. They bought war bonds and worked in factories, mines, mills etc. They had to do jobs that were considered typical male jobs and did not have time for the social lives they had in the previous decades. They had to be responsible for holding up life at home through work, rationing, buying war bonds etc.

25. What in an internment Camp? What role did the attitudes of society play in the creation of camps in Canada?

To intern someone is to hold them against their will. Canada used internment camps during World War 2 for Japanese Canadians. Canadian society had a long history of discrimination against people of Asian descent as well as a fear that what happened in Pearl Harbour could happen in Canada. The racist attitude in society led to the creation of the camps, robbing countless Japanese Canadians of their human rights for the remainder of the war.
