TOPICC–Civil Rights Events: DUE MONDAY MARCH 5TH, END OF CLASS

  1. Create an annotated timeline (events plus information about the events) using the following 10 events: end of the white primary in Georgia, Brown v. Board of Education, the state flag controversy (1956 to present), founding of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Sibley Commission, integration of UGA, the Albany Movement, the March on Washington, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the election of Maynard Jackson

TOPIC E – Economics in Modern Georgia (Chapter 26): DUE FRIDAY MARCH 9TH, END OF CLASS

  1. Transportation: Summarize the modern importance of Highway, Rail, Water, and Air (include Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and Delta) transportation methods to Georgia
  2. Agriculture: Changes in agriculture, including diversifying crops & livestock and mechanization (new technology) – also explain why the number of farmers decreased (relate it to technology and the GI Bill)
  3. Manufacturing: Include the importance of mining, forestry, and textiles/carpets. Also explain how the growth of these industries impacted Georgia’s population.
  4. Service & Tourism: Explain how the service industries and tourism have impacted Georgia.

1. Explain the above changes in Georgia after WWII in an essay.
