WebSphere Integration Developer v6.0.2 Setup Guide

Installation

/ Warning: You cannot use ghosting or disk imaging to install this software. You must install the software on each machine separately. Do not change the computer hostname after this software is installed. Also, do not install this software from a network share. It will only function partially if you do.

  1. Create a folder called Softwareon the C drive.
  1. Copy the contents of allsixWID.6.0.2 CD's to the C:\Software folder. When you complete the copying, there will be a disk1, disk2, disk3, disk4, disk5, and disk6 folder under the C:\Software folder.

NOTE: The contents of all six CD’s must be copied to a local folder on the HDD. You cannot install directly from the CD’s or you will receive an error indicating that files are missing.

  1. From C:\Software\disk1folder, run launchpad.exe.


  1. Click Install IBM WebSphere Integration Developer V6.0.2 in the Launchpad window.
  1. Click Nexton the Welcome screen.


  1. Accept the license terms and click Next.


  1. Change the installation location to C:\wid6 and click Next.

Important: You must make this change. The path of the default installation location is too long and will cause problems with the functionality of the product during the student labs.

  1. Check the IBM WebSphere Process Server V6.0.2 Test Environmentcheck box and click Next.

  1. Read the message and click Next.

  1. On the following screen, select both check boxesand clickNext.
  1. On the summary page, click Next.


  1. The software will begin to install. Wait for installation toend, this may take several hours.
  1. Once the software is finished installing,confirm that all of the steps on the screen shown below are Successfuland click Next.


  1. Read the summary information and click Next.
  1. The system will open the read me file in a browser. Close it.
  1. Read the summary information and click Next.


  1. Uncheck Launch Rational Product Updater and click Finish.
  1. The installation of WebSphere Integration Developer v6.0.2 (WID v6.0.2) is now complete. Close the WebSphere Integration Developer Launchpad window.

Quick Verification

Follow these quick verification steps on all machinesthat the software is installed on.

  1. Open the file C:\wid6\logs\wid_v602_install.login notepad.
  2. Go to the end of the file. Verify that you see the bolded text below:

  1. Open the fileC:\wid6\logs\wps_v602_install_err.login notepad.
  2. Verify that this error log file is empty.
  3. Open the file C:\wid6\logs\wps_v602_create_wps_profile.log in notepad.
  4. Scroll down to the very end. There should be three lines similar to the ones below:

  1. Ignore the error message "system cannot find the file specified". Verify that the line with "INSTCONFSUCCESS" exists.
  1. Now open the C:\wid6\logs\wps_v602_create_esb_profile.log file in notepad. Scroll down to the end of the log file and verify that you see these lines:

  1. Ignore the error message "system cannot find the file specified". Verify that the line with "INSTCONFSUCCESS" exists.

Detailed Verification

Perform this detailed verification on at least one machinethat the software is installed on. You do not need to do this verification on all machines in the room.

  1. Launch WID (Start->All programs->IBM WebSphere->Integration Developer 6.0.2->WebSphere Integration Developer V6.0.2.)
  2. Change the workspace to C:\wid6\workspace as shown below:
  1. Click OK.
  1. Close the Welcome screen (click the X on the welcome tab).


  1. At the bottom of the screen, click on the Servers tab.
  2. Select the WebSphere Process Server v6.0 server from the list of servers.
  3. Click on the Start the server button to start the server.


  1. Click on the Console tab. In the Console view, the system will show the server startup messages. Wait a couple minutes until activity in the console seems to have stopped.Verify that you see the "Server server1 open for e-business" message.


  1. Click on the Servers tab again. Verify that the status of the server is Started.


  1. Select the WebSphere Process Server v6.0 server and stop it by clicking on the Stop the server button.
  2. Wait for the server to stop (Status will say Stopped).
  3. Exit WID by choosing File->Exit from the menu bar.
  4. Close all the open files.

Congratulations! The product has installed successfully.
