BTEC NATIONAL LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN CREATIVE DIGITAL MEDIA PRODUCTION
WHAT DOES THE SUBJECT INCLUDE?
This extended diploma/subsidiary diploma is a creative media qualification primarily and involves aspects of graphic design, photography, video technology, computer games design, web design and animation.
The course is practical by nature and involves industry-standard project briefs that cover a number of subjects providing students with a broad range of skills and the option to specialise in year two with a Final Major Project. Included in this course is the opportunity to go on international and national trips.
WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?
The course is assessed continuously, with an external verifier from Edexcel sampling the course annually.
This is a creative and exciting media production course running at the Oswestry Campus. There will be opportunities to work in a vocational environment learning about a range of design and creative media subjects.
You will be working on industry standard project briefs which encourage course work that reflects creativity, flair and investigation. The course is made up of 18 units, 7 mandatory units and 6 optional. Subjects include, Digital media skills, representations, film production, concept art, computer game design, stop motion animation and more

IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?
If you have achieved 5 GCSE Grade C or above this is a fantastic course for anyone interested in the Art & Design, Digital Media, Graphics, TV & Video or Computer Games Industries.
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
At least 5 GSCE’s at grade A-C including English and Maths.

HOW MANY HOURS, WEEKS, YEARS DOES IT LAST?
Two years, full time (15 hours a week)
One year, full time (15 hours a week)
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
You will need basic art and design materials such as a good range of pencils, pens, paints, ruler, rubber, sharpener as well as a sketchbook for certain units. The college sell art packs which include the necessary equipment. It is vital that you bring in a memory stick. It would also be useful if you had your own camera however that is not essential
HOW CAN I PREPARE MYSELF BEFORE THE COURSE BEGINS?
It would be useful to gain a deeper understanding of your favourite subject specialism such as games design, concept art, photography, graphic design or film making. Useful information can be found on the web or specialist books.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
Progression could include:
- Degree in subjects such as TV and Film, Graphics, Photography, Games Design, Interactive Multimedia, Creative Arts etc.
- Employment in creative arts industries such as Graphic Design, Photography and Production companies.
- Setting up own freelance business.
- National design competitions.
ARE THERE ANY EXTRA COSTS?
You would need to supply your as art materials and sketchbooks, however these are available to buy at college at a reasonable price. You will also need to pay for Academic and residential trips organised by the Arts and Media department.

HOW DO I APPLY/JOIN THIS COURSE?
You first need to complete and application form. You can find a form in the back of the Prospectus or alternatively you can complete the form on-line by visiting the College’s website .
Once we have your form we will invite you to come into College and meet with a member of our teaching Team so you can ask any other questions you have. Usually at this meeting we will either offer you a place on the course you have applied for or, in some cases an alternative course.
