RULES
- Competitors may only enter one item in each class.
- All bakery items to be displayed on a china or pottery plate not paper, and all items to be covered with cling film or in a polythene bag.
- Exhibits to be brought to the Leicester Grammar School on SATURDAY, 11 March 2017 between 9.30am to 10.15am, no entries will be accepted after this time.
- Exhibits may not be removed until the end of the meeting. The Federation will not be responsible for any exhibits left after the meeting.
- The judges will be appointed by the Federation. The judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Whilst every care will be taken with exhibits, the Federation cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to exhibits during judging and display.
- Judging will be in accordance with ‘On with the Show’ 2015 Edition which is available from WI House or online.
- Fee payable for a 20cm Vegetable Cake …..… £1.00 5 Viennese Whirls £1.00 ……...
- Winner in each class will get one free ticket to any Home Economic event for 2017/2018.
The entrance fee can be paid on the day but please let WI House know you are entering by completing the slip below and returning it to WI House by Monday, 6March 2017.

This is a fund raising competition
Viennese Whirls – makes 12
200g/8 oz plain flourFilling
25g/1 oz cornflour2 tbsp. jam
225g/9 oz butter and a little vanilla essencea little icing sugar
35g/1½ oz icing sugar, sieved
12 paper cases in a bun tin
oven 185ºFan. Gas 6
Action
Soften the butter and mix with the icing sugar and vanilla essence either by hand or using an electric beater
Sieve the flours together and mix into the butter and sugar to make a piping consistency.
Pipe the mixture in circles into the paper cases using a large star nozzle and piping bag. If the mixture seems very soft refrigerate for 20-30 minutes before baking.
Cook for 20-25 minutes until lightly golden.
Cool on a wire tray then sprinkle with icing sugar and put a little jam into the centre of each one.
