WHEELNUTS CAR SHOW SUN 27 APRIL 2014

Once again the car show stalwarts of the WSCC Cotswolds Branch headed for “Wheelnuts” at St Rose’s School in Stroud. Tony Rogers (MG Midget), David Smeaton (GBS Zero) and I (Westfield SEW) met up at The Cross Hands in Brockworth on a bit of a grey morning before heading off down the A46. We arrived in good order and, for the first time, set up the new WSCC Cotswolds Branch feather flag. We’d been allocated to row “Q,” about as close as we could get to the exit and thus very handy should a quick getaway be required due to inclement weather.

As usual at “Wheelnuts,” many good and interesting exhibits filled all parts of the display area – photos of some of the more outstanding ones are attached. Several circuits of the show were necessary to see everything as new exhibits were arriving all the time, way past the official opening to the public at 1100. There was a fair amount of interest in our cars, which we returned to from time to time, and we may have recruited a couple of new members to our branch. There were a couple of blustery rain showers, nothing serious, but in any case David was able to put up his half hood, Tony his roof and I just zipped up my tonneau.

After lunch, Tony zoomed off home whilst David and I did a couple more circuits of the exhibits and chatted to people before we too decided to leave a little bit earlier than the official closing time. Stow the feather flag (easy to put up and take down); jump in the cars and away. Another great run back before we split up in Painswick and headed for home. Thanks again to David and Tony for turning out on what could have been a dodgy day weather wise, and I’m sure that “Wheelnuts” raised ££££ for St Rose’s School.
