Job Purpose:
To ensure the safety of children crossing the road at a designated point at specified times.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1.  To ensure that the service provision is delivered in such a way as to put the customer first.
2.  When appropriate liaise and advise other Council departments and outside agencies in respect of matters relating to the Patrol Site operation, particularly in respect of defects.
3.  At all times ensure that an absolute duty of care is provided for all persons whilst waiting and actually crossing the road.
4.  As far as is reasonably practicable ensure that both the site and area in the immediate vicinity are safe particularly during bad weather conditions
5.  Maintain the supplied approved uniform and sign in such condition so as to comply with the relevant regulations.
6.  Operate (where appropriate) equipment on the site installed to improve safety conditions and report failures or defects as soon as they occur.
7.  At all times comply with the Councils Code of Practice for the operation of School Crossing Sites, in particular relation to working alone out of doors and in all weathers.
8.  At all times comply with the associated health and safety requirements including the use of wearing of safety equipment.
9.  To be able to properly record details of vehicles failing to comply with the stop sign, prepare statements regarding the incidents and where required present the evidence to a court of law.
10.  To provide, when required, instruction to schools relating to the use of School Crossing Patrol Sites.
11.  Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and all employees are required to act in such a way that at all times safeguards the health and well being of children and vulnerable adults.
12.  Carry out duties with due regard to the Council’s Customer Care, Equal Opportunities, Information Governance, Data Protection and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
13.  Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post.
