All Objectives we will learn in Unit 3.2 (The Executive Branch)

1. Identify the powers and limitations of the executive branch. (CE.C&G.1.4)
2. Evaluate how checks and balances influences the actions of the government. (CE.C&G.1.5)
3. Inform others about the role that different parts of the Federal Bureaucracy play in providing for the American people. (CE.C&G.2.1)
4. Analyze the role of the Governor and Mayors in the NC government. (CE.C&G.2.2)
5. Compare the role of the executive in the United States with the executives in other governments. (CE.C&G.2.5)
6. Examine the way that the executive branch has influenced people's rights during current events. (CE.C&G.2.6)
7. Identify the costs and benefits of different policies such as naturalization, annexation, zoning, and national security. (CE.C&G.2.7)

The network of agencies and departments of the government.

Cabinet

The President's closest advisors and heads of departments in the executive branch.

Council of State

Elected heads of state agencies in North Carolina that are independent of the governor.

Domestic Policy

Policies or programs that deal with issues within the country.

Executive Branch

Part of the government that enforces and carries out laws.

Executive Order

A commandment issues by the President that has the force of law.

Foreign Policy

A nation's plan for dealing with other nations.

Pardon

The President's power to forgive someone of a crime committed.

Veto

Executive's power to reject a proposed law.

Zoning

Assignment of land for specific property purposes, such as commercial or residential.
