Welcome to World History Class

7th Grade History Class Description:

7th Grade History will examine World History as outlined in the Common Core State Standards. Subjects include: Rome, The Middle East, Africa, Asia, European Middle Ages and Renaissance, Exploration, and The Americas.

Textbook: Medieval and Modern Times

Please bring your book to class every day. Textbooks should be covered.

Supplies:

Pencil & Eraser
Pen (black or blue)
Highlighters (3 different colors) / Colored pencils
3 ring binder
Blank notebook paper / Optional:
Correction tape
Pencil sharpener

Class Rules:

1. No gum, food, or drinks (bottle of water is ok)

2. Be prepared with supplies, NO LENDING SUPPLIES

3. Be respectful to all people – staff and students

4. Treat all supplies, books, and equipment with care

5. Be in your seat when the bell rings

Consequences:

You are expected to follow all class and school rules. For school rules, see your binder reminder.

Cell Phones:

Cell phones should be in your backpack or your locker and turned off. No phones may be used in during the school day.

Citizenships Grades:

Citizenship grades are affected by tardies, missing work, gum, phone calls home, receiving too many warnings, low participation, not having supplies, and breaking any other school or class rule.

Tardies:

3 tardies – U on report card for citizenship (per grading period)

Repeated tardies – detention, phone call home, office referral

Grades / Make Up Work:

If you have missing assignments, you will have opportunities for make ups during the following months:

First semester: Sept, Oct, Nov (2 per month)

Second semester: Feb, March, April.(2 per month)

Homework/Class Website: Homework is assigned every week. Homeworkand links (such as websites, maps, photos, etc.) will be posted on the Toll website weekly. Please check the website each week. You can also subscribe to the website to receive homework reminders by email.

Neat Work: In order to receive full credit on any assignment, it must be neat. Any messy or illegible assignment may lose points or be returned to you ungraded.Only work completed in blue/black ink or pencil is accepted. If another color ink is used, you may lose points or receive no credit.

Notebook: This is one of your project grades. You should keep all work for history in your 3 ring binder. When graded work is returned, you should put it in your binder in the correct unit. Notebook checks will be conducted throughout the year once per unit.

Projects: No late projects will be accepted and make ups may not be used for a missing project
