Role Description

Colchester & Tendring Women’s Refuge provides community support to Women, Men and Children & crisis accommodation for Women & their children and who have or are currently experiencing domestic abuse.

Role – Fundraising & Marketing Volunteer

Location – From home or within the refuge buildings

Responsible to – Chief Executive

Purpose/summary of role

Without funding our organisation and all the amazing things that we do to help keep men, women and children safe ceases to exist – it’s that important!

If you have skills and expertise in fundraising and marketing and the enthusiasm to work with a small charity where you can make a huge difference then we would love for you to bring your skills to help us. We would like you to work with our Senior Leadership Team, our staff and on occasion our Trustee’s to help us design, manage and implement our fundraising activities and increase our marketing of these fundraising campaigns to maximisethe impact and outcomes.

Description of tasks –

Work with the Chief Executive and members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to assist the design of fundraising campaigns & activities.

Provide CEO& SLT with suggestions for future campaigns and activities and ideas for marketing the fundraising activities, including updates for website, social media and any printed material.

Work with staff to support the deliver fundraising activity.

Act as an ambassador to promote involvement in fundraising activities to increase our fundraising volunteers.

Work cooperatively with all staff members& other volunteers and adhere to our core values, policies, practices and procedures. Undertaking training as appropriate to develop skills.

Skills and Qualifications

Ability to work on own initiative and without close supervision.

Fundraising and marketing skills and experience

Event management skills and experience (desirable)

Friendly, welcoming manner

Good communication skills

Methodical approach

Understanding of issues surrounding confidentiality

Working in compliance with policies and procedures

Awillingness to roll up your sleeves and contribute to other reasonable activities in times of need

Training & Support -

You will be given and induction training into the various aspect of domestic abuse.

Ongoing training and support will be given as required and you will have the opportunities to meet with staff member and volunteers.

Reimbursement of expenses –

Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed:

  • Mileage cost @ 30p per mile
