Attention ALL Tennessee Chapter “Volunteers” it is time to kick into the next gear with QuadState. With QuadState well on its way (only 5 months away!!) we should be to the point of going into “cruise control”. Please start calling everyone you know encouraging them to attend.

Those of you, who are on committees, please call your chairman and see what you can do to help.

With this conference we need to let our volunteer character shine and be prepared for the best QuadState ever!!

TRASH MAN’S BASH

The annual Trash Man’s Bash is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18, in Gatlinburg. Sponsors will be featured on a banner and on flyers distributed in the exhibit area. Get maximum exposure for your $300 sponsorship donation. The Trash Man’s Bash Sponsor Authorization Form is attached to this newsletter and must accompany your check. Dates for getting in your logo and where to send your check are on the attached form. Contact Joe Connolly, , Bash Chairman, if you need an invoice sent to you.

QUAD STATE CONFERENCE

Scheduled for August 20-24, this conference is the

most important event this chapter has ever

undertaken. The only way it is going to succeed is

if as many members as possible volunteer to help

as well as register as either exhibitors or attendees

and also answer the call for papers.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

I.DEADLINES.

June 25, 2007:Application form and back-up documentation must be received by the representative appointed by the Chapter Scholarship Committee’s Chairman.

August 1, 2007:Chapter winners are selected by Scholarship

Committee.

Scholarship awarded August 15, 2007.

II.SCHOLARSHIP AWARD.

A.Eligibility

To be considered for the award, the candidate must meet all the following criteria:

1.The son, daughter, adopted son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter of a member (sponsor) in good standing of the Tennessee Volunteer Chapter of SWANA. A stepson or stepdaughter may apply if currently residing in the member’s (sponsor’s) household.

2.Graduating high school senior who has been accepted at an accredited

college or university and will be a full time student in an accredited college or university or a rising college freshman who is a full time student in an accredited college or university.

3.A resident of Tennessee.

B.Award

The Tennessee Volunteer Chapter reserves the right to award up to a $1,000.00

scholarship per fiscal year.

III.BACK-UP DOCUMENTATION

The following applicable back-up documentation should be sent to the Chapter

  1. ACT/SAT scores
  2. Grade Point Average
  3. Graduation from high school
  4. Acceptance by college or university
  5. Transcripts

The above information must be sent by the issuing institution; any such information provided by the applicant will be considered invalid and not counted in the scoring.

Applicants have the responsibility for verifying that their back-up documentation has been received by the Scholarship Committee’s representative. A number has been provided where you can verify that your materials have been received. Please leave sufficient time for the institution to receive your request, process it, and mail it to the Scholarship Committee’s representative prior to calling. However, be aware that, if you miss the deadline, June 25, 2007, for submittal of your application and back-up documentation, you will be disqualified.
