5. / Title of Topic / “A MIASMATIC APPROACH IN THE TREATMENT OF ALLERGIC CONTACT DERMATITIS”
6. / Brief Resume of the Intended work
6.1 / Need for the study / Allergic Contact dermatitis is most commonly encountered disease of the community. The incidence of the disease is 2-3% of the all medical problems seen in the practice.
Allergic contact dermatitis is a cell mediated hypersensitive skin reaction resulting from exposure of sensitized individuals to a contact allergen. Like chemicals & cosmetics, ornaments, synthetics, creams & ointments etc.
Allergic Contact dermatitis is also a common disease prevailing in the world. For which the other schools has no satisfactory treatment. Either they give suppressed, or palliative treatment. If the disease the important organs get effect i.e., most commonly lungs etc. If the treatment is palliative relapses takes place.
I thus feel it a privilege being a Homeopathic & wish to take up this clinical condition to understand its presentation, miasmatic evolution, the utility of Homeopathic treatment & arrive at a group of medicines to set the Vital energy in order, thus enabling it to function properly.
6.2 / Review of Literature /
- Psora disease which causes the cutaneous eruption is necessary as an aid and when this is cured also the cutaneous ailment being the necessary consequence of the internal disease, will naturally disappear cessante causa, cessante efectus,

B. Jain Publisher Pvt. Ltd. 1921 Chuna Mandi, Street NO. 10. Paharganj, New Delhi – 110055. Pg No. 168-169
2. Svnonvm: Chemical eczema
The eruption develops briskly, spreading far beyond the original point of contact it has an ill-defined margin, fading at the periphery.
There is no eczema but an eczematous patient. Establish the cause/causative factors. While managing eczema, treat the patient & respect the skin.
Behl. P.N.”Practice of Dermatology”, 8th Edition. CBS Publishers & Distributors, 4596/1-4, 11-Darya gunj; New Delhi – 110 002. Pg. No. 128-130.
3.The prevalence of Dermatitis is increasing because of rapid industrialization, use of chemicals, cosmetics, soaps & other irritants, increasing use of synthetic garments & increasing stress of life.
Eczema could be Exogenous or Endogenous; Exogenous Eczema are 1) Irritant contact dermatitis 2) Allergic contact dermatitis & 3)Infective dermatitis.
There is a tendency for a localized contact allergic dermatitis to spread & become generalized by ingestion or injection of the allergen, persistence of the allergen, or by exacerbation of inflammation, by irritation of infection.
Sainani G.S. –“API Text Book of medicine”, Published by – Association of Physicians of India, Bombay. 5th edition reprint 1994.
4.Pg. No. 161-Suppression:
“These diseased conditions have developed as an expression of the inward turmoil & distress under which whole individual suffers”. He further states, “No greater crime can be committed against the human ecomony than to aid & abet these suppression. Suppression is the source of many functional disturbance”.
Pg. No. 151 – Susceptibility:
“One man’s meat is another man’s poison”
Human beings are susceptible to infections & contagion in varying degrees. One man is made ill by noxious plants while another man can handle them with impurity.
All this reactions have to do with susceptibility.

B. Jain Publisher Pvt. Ltd. 1921 Chuna Mandi, Street NO. 10. Paharganj, New Delhi – 110055.
5.Miasmatic approach: skin disease evolve from psora to sycosis to tubercular to syphilitic miasm. Skin diseases occur as primary or secondary lesion, difference lesion have different phases. Every phase must be treated accordingly “Skin disease appears first but gets cure last” miasmatic background dose play an important role in the treatment of skin disease.

B. Jain Publisher Pvt. Ltd. 1921 Chuna Mandi, Street NO. 10. Paharganj, New Delhi – 110055.
6.The skin of the Psoric Pt is dry, rough dirty or unhealthy looking and not only that but it has as unwashed appearance and the more you bath it the rougher it becomes as it can not endure water. In pseudo Psora this is magnified in such diseases as eczema fissum and itching of the skin. Prurities of the skin is always psoric symptoms.

7.There may be a chronic idiosyncrasy from a chronic miasm & an acute idiosyncrasy from an actue miasm. Psora is at the bottom of all these troubles.
If there were no state o susceptibility, no such condition as idiosyncrasy, there could be no Homoeopathy. If there were no susceptibility, there would be no sickness & no need of Homoeopathy.
Kent J.T. Lectures on Homoeopathic Philosophy” IBP, B-5/62, Dev Nagar, Pyarelal Road, Karol Bagh, Delhi – 110055. Idiosyncrasies – Pg. No. 179-183.
8.Vol-Pg. 280 – Delayed or type-IV allergic reactions are cause by the actions of T-cells, which take longer to accumulate at the site where the antigen is present than do the B-cell antibody….. A common delayed allergic reaction is Contact dermatitis, a skin disorder.
Vol-21 – Pg. 769 – Allergic contact dermatitis occurs only in persons who have, after previous exposure, become sensitized to the offending antigen.
“The New Encyclopedia Britannica – Vol -1 “Micropedia; Founded-1768, 15th edition, Peter B. Norton, President & chief executive officer. Joseph. J. Esposito, President, Publishing group, Chicago.
9.Contact dermatitis is an inflammatory process in the skin caused by an exogenous agent that directly or indirectly injure the skin. This injury may be caused by an inherent characteristic of a compound e.g., concentrated acid or base. It is a manifestation of delayed-type hypersensitivity mediated by memory T lymphocytes in the skin.
“Herrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine – Vol 1 16th Edition Mc Graw Hill, Medical Publishing Devision. Pg No. 288-289.
10.“The skin being biologically within the organism, being fed from within, having its life from within, having its health from within & having its disease from within, it must also be treated medicinally from within”.
“That, in fine, the generally received external treatment of disease of the skin, whatever, by lotions or ointments or whatsoever else, is demonstrably shallow in conception, wrong in theory, harmful in practice & therefore inadvisable”.
Compton Burnett.J – “Disease of the skin”.
11.The most frequent case of allergic contact dermatitis are nickel, chromates, woolfat (lanolin), rubber additives, formaline resins, neomycin, ‘caine’ anaesthetics, dyes & plants, topical preparation containing preservatives & stabilizers ….
Buckley C/M H A Rustin, Royal Free Hospital, London – “Journal of Applied Medicine – July 1991”, Allergic contact dermatitis – Pg. No. 444.
12.Dr. Wadia in his book quotes that – Dr. Gardinar in his book “Hand Book of Skin Disease” states, “a skin condition is a reflection of the individual as a whole & that in most causes internal treatment is, therefore necessary & in some causes, it is the only method of treatment”.
Wadia S.R. Homeoeopathy in Skin Diseases”, B.Jain Publishers Pvt. Ltd. 1921 Chuna Mandi, Street No. 10 Paharganj, New Delhi – 110055.
6.3 / Objective of the study /

7.2 / Methods of collection of Data
(Including sampling produce if any) / Methods of collection of data:- Including sampling procedure if any.
1)By interrogation of individual case.
2)By physical examination.
3)Depending on the individual case & on the basis of Totality of symptoms & “Miasmatic background”. Indicated medicine will be given. The effect of the medicine will be observed. As per the observation, follow up will be done.
4)Sampling size – 30 cases are to be studied.
These 30 sample cases have been selected by using simple random sampling technique. In the study mainly qualification data are studied, so non parametric test will be applied for analysis. (chi square test)
